Too Funny- Gallup Poll- Papa Obama behind Generic Republican

McConnel has come up with a "fail safe" plan to raise the ceiling, that he is hoping will put the blame on Obama. But instead, most Independents will see the GOP as passing the buck.

First they create a crisis by insisting on massive cuts while keeping tax breaks for the rich. Then, when they are not given their "dogmatic" way, they walk away from their responsibility and blame Obama. If Obama calls their bluff and there is a default, as McConnell said, it could be the end of the Republican brand.

Voters will quickly realize that if these guys are in charge, we will be in for 4 years of chaos, of slash and burn. At the end of their reign, there will be lots more millionaires, lots more poor, and the middle class will be the smallest in US history.

The Poor are such a pain for the GOP, aren't they?

Actually, it looks like the Republicans called Papa Obama's bluff

House to vote next week on $2.4 trillion debt ceiling increase, matching spending cuts

I'm skeptical of all of them as both sides are capable of using smoke and mirrors to make it appear they've actually done something worthwhile.

Newt Gingrich actually had the best idea I've heard. Do it on a month by month basis. This month agree to a hundred billion increase in debt limit in return for actual cuts of a hundred billion. Next month do the same thing and the next and the next. We could keep it up until the election next year and if we have the good sense to elect fiscal conservatives, they'll put together a permanent plan and balanced budget that a fiscally conservative President will sign.

I remember the summer of 2004 and Kerry was supposed to kick W's posterior,,,,didn't happen.
In 2007, it was supposed to be Rudy versus Hillary in 2008,,,didn't happen.
The election is what? 15 months out? It's way to early to even guess what will happen by the end of the year, let alone 15 months out as history shows. Hell, maybe Obama will decide not to run. Or the debt ceiling isn't raised and the US has a major economic downturn because of the repercussions. Or there's a major scandal that completely changes the political landscape. Fifteen months is a long time.
Threads like this are pretty much worthless AND this is at least the 3rd thread that uses the same poll and replicates the previous two.
Where are the mods?

And they also said Reagan would never win.....

It was pointed out in 1st post about the time being too long and such

Well they could combine them

Of course, if it does bother that much then you could just not read it

Hello Foxfyre! I'm afraid that Newt's idea would disrupt the markets too much because of the continuous uncertainty, that in turn would create more havoc than we already have with the economy.
No thanks! :eusa_hand: Our economy desperately needs some sort of stability.

Newt is a transparent a-hole. "Housekeeping" ceiling increases under Bush would become a neverending catastrophe- what a pile of Pubcrappe- stall the recovery to win- how dumb can you people get....Dittohead idiocy.

Actually the gaps are narrowing. Romney is ahead of Obama in a hypothetical match up in Florida and they are in a dead heat 44% to 44% in Pennsylvania right now though Obama won Pennsylvania by 10 pts in 2008. I don't think ideology or fancy but essentially meaningless rhetoric can save Obama in 2012 if the GOP manages to put up an attractive candidate. It will all come down to which candidate the voters trust more to get it right. And the numbers re confidence in Obama are pretty pitiful right now except in defense where he is getting decent grades.

Rasmussen tracks the party likely voters affiliate themselves with on a monthly basis. The results for the past four years:

June 2008 (Republican - Democrat - Other)
R - 31.5%
D - 41.0%
O - 27.5%

June 2009
R - 32.2%
D - 38.9%
O - 28.9%

June 2010
R - 33.0%
D - 35.4%
O - 31.6%

June 2011
R - 34.4%
D - 34.7%
O - 31.0%

I don't think so because it would work. Of course you would have a majority agreeing that it would work if such a plan passed. It would actually keep things in check until we could come up with a good permanent plan and we're going to have to change Presidents to get that. I'm not convinced the McConnell plan will do that because Congress has yet to deliver on promised future cuts in one of these deals - ever.

That is really funny

The only problem is that Obama beats the shit out of any Republican with a name

Hate to say it guys but he is right. I think there are many people like me. Who at this point would vote for anyone to get Obama out, but who are not at all impressed with any particular Republican.

Me thinks a lot of people who answered that Poll are filling in Generic Republican with who ever the wish would run, but is not in the race. I know I have a few of those. Don't get me wrong. I WILL hold my nose and vote for who ever wins the Republican Nod this time around. I know people always say it. But I really do think this Election is to important to get hung up on the Perfect Candidate. I Pains me to say that, Because what I really want is more Parties, and I know voting this way will never make that happen, But I simply can not accept another 4 Years of Economic Destruction, Arrogance, and Incompetence.

Obama is like a Babe in the woods. In Completely over his head, and whats worse he is far to Arrogant to admit it. His Economic Policies are ineffective in the short term, and down right Catastrophic in the long term. He Thinks the Constitution is in the eye of the Beholder, and he can choose which parts of it he wants to comply with, and Ignore others. His Dishonest Fear Mongering over the Debt Debate takes the cake. He is utterly shameless, and thinks the Majority of Americans are Ignorant Sheep that will Buy his lies, and so far it looks like he may be right. Sure his Poll Numbers are down, But I promise you right now if he were any other Man, or woman. The Poll numbers would be much worse, and the press would be talking about how the GOP can't lose in NOV. If we had some expert at calling elections based on Polling Data. Who had been on Mars all this time and knew Nothing at all about the last 15 years or so, and we sent them all the Numbers on the Economy, and Polling on Obama's Polices. ETC. There is no doubt in my mind they would say the President Has Almost no chance at another term. Normal Laws just do not apply to Obama. He is a masterful politician, and Manipulate of the Press that Loves him. The man could sell sand to people in the Sahara and leave them thinking he did them a great Favor it seems.

He clearly is not the Honest, Transparent, No BS, Guy we saw run for office. He is a left wing Ideologue. The things he has done that may seem out of character for one, were done for Pragmatic Reasons related to Public Opinion, and winning Elections. Obama understand you can not turn the US into a qasi Socialist Nation over night. He believes in Baby steps and picking your battles, But Don't be fooled. He is left wing to the Core. Not a true Marxist, But certainly influenced by it. I think someday they will invent a new word to describe his Hybrid Fusion of Basically all the Failed ideas, with the only one that has ever worked, Capitalism.

Obamaism.

All I know is this. Obama needs to go. The Extreme lefts control of the Democrat Party needs to end, and the Extreme rights attempts to control the Republican party Must be thwarted. We need Pragmatic Public Servants, not Money Grubbing Politicians are always looking to the next Election.

9.2 is alot better than 10.2...Kudos to Pubs for stalling the recovery there...what can they do after this debt ceiling fake crisis?

Some people in Papa Obama's administration said it would never get over 8
with his Pork Bill

Oh thats right, the Republicans controlling one House of the Congress for about 6 months stopped the Papa Obama "Job making" machine just before it was about to max out...
