Hmm.. troops STILL in Iraq.

Insurance premiums just sky rocketed.

Bank fees and credit card rates on the rise.

Good job.

They did? For whom? I just re-upped my insurance for 2011 through my employer, and my exact same coverage levels only went up 2.3%. Is that skyrocketing?

I'm sure everyone else just wishes they were as lucky as you. But alas...

It’s that dreaded time of year again. Employees are beginning to find out how much more they’ll be ponying up for health insurance in 2011, and (surprise, surprise) costs are going up, again.

From your own link, which I assume you didn't bother to read:

Federal workers to pay more for health care
By The Post's Federal Diary columnist Joe Davidson:

Federal employees will see their health insurance premiums increase at a far higher rate than their pay next year, but less than many private sector workers.

The average increase for enrollees in the Federal Employee Health Benefits Program will be 7.2 percent, the Office of Personnel Management said Friday. That's significantly more than their average pay raise, which is slated to be 1.4 percent in 2011. In dollars, federal workers will pay, on average, $5.53 more each pay period for self-only coverage and $11.45 more for a family.

Last year's average premium increase was 8.8 percent. Citing estimates by consultants for other large, employer-sponsored insurance plans, OPM said those programs will see increases between 8.9 percent and 10.5 percent.

More federal employees choose Blue Cross Blue Shield's standard option than any other program. Their premium increase will be 6.9 percent for self-coverage and 7.6 percent for a family, according to OPM.

For 2011, "We have eliminated enrollee cost sharing for preventive care services, added incentives for tobacco cessation, and, in accordance with the Affordable Care Act, added coverage for dependents up to age 26," said OPM Director John Berry. Even with these new benefits, premiums will rise less this year than they did last year."

So you're saying that insurance rates have continues to rise during BOTH years of the Obama regime? Wasn't the health care bill supposed to reduce costs?

One Party Rule!

Does that mean that on November 3rd, we can start blaming the GOP (who likely will control the House) for the poor economy, high unemployement and lack of action to get us out of the ditch they drove us into?

Start? when did you fuckers stop? see that's why so many are pissed with you cause all you did was "blame bush" for ten long years now it's blame bush. but hey the illegals are getting your jobs. good show.

Illegal migration has slowed considerably due to LACK of jobs, dearie. Pay attention.

What is this? The liberals are already wanting the economy to stay in its current condition? They are ready to become the party of no? Careful, careful.

The Republicans have no plan. This isn't 1994, when they did. The Tea Party is all ripe and ready to move on slashing entitlements and keeping tax cuts in place. But is the leadership in Washington? According to David Stockman (Reagan's budget chief) on 60 Minutes last night, they're just bullshitting everyone (he used a kinder word). Read the transcript or watch the video:

Deficits: The Battle Over Taxing The Rich - 60 Minutes - CBS News
"Tax cutting is a religion. What do you mean by that?" correspondent Lesley Stahl asked Stockman.

"Well it's become in a sense an absolute. Something that can't be questioned, something that's gospel, something that's sort of embedded into the catechism and so scratch the average Republican today and he'll say 'Tax cuts, tax cuts, tax cuts,'" he explained.

"It's rank demagoguery," he added. "We should call it for what it is. If these people were all put into a room on penalty of death to come up with how much they could cut, they couldn't come up with $50 billion, when the problem is $1.3 trillion. So, to stand before the public and rub raw this anti-tax sentiment, the Republican Party, as much as it pains me to say this, should be ashamed of themselves."

These frank words come from Ronald Reagan's old budget director. Stockman was the architect of the largest tax cut in American history.

Ahhh, that's cute. You're following the mantra of the lefties! Are you now a full member of the borg or still being assimilated?

Buy you books, send you to school, give you more than enough historical data, and yet you still say the same damned thing. Don't make me type this again, next time in ALL CAPS. The economy had begun its royal flush (down the toilet) long before the Democrats tried to do something about it. To continue to deny that is absurd.

Total 2008 job loss: 2.6 million - Jan. 9, 2009
A sobering U.S. Labor Department jobs report Friday showed the economy lost 524,000 jobs in December and 1.9 million in the year's final four months, after the credit crisis began in September.

The unemployment rate rose to 7.2% last month from 6.7% in November - its highest rate since January 1993.

The steep annual drop in jobs marked the highest yearly job-loss total since 1945, the year in which World War II ended.

"We're seeing a complete unraveling of the labor market and are on track for getting beyond 10% unemployment," said Lawrence Mishel, president of the Economic Policy Institute.

The total number of unemployed Americans rose by 632,000 to 11.1 million.

November, in which 584,000 jobs were lost, and December marked the first time in the 70-year history of the report in which the economy lost more than 500,000 jobs in consecutive months.

"We have a bigger economy now, but even on a proportional basis, the last months have been the worst since [1945]," said Kurt Karl, head of economic research at Swiss Re. "It's just an enormous acceleration of job losses."

By comparison, the 2.6 million jobs lost in 2008 nationwide were equal to the number of jobs found in states such as Wisconsin, Missouri or Maryland.

To simply abandon the notion that the Bush Administration didn't contribute to this is even MORE than absurd.

They like it that the illegals have jobs.

Jose' sez he needs a vacation; he sez you can take over for him picking lettuce 8 hours a day, bending over in the AZ heat anytime you want.

Tell Jose' my vacation is in February. He and his ten year old kid can both take the week off.

Yea it will be good for the country to have some Checks & Balances restored. One Party Rule always ends in disaster. Lets hope & pray this happens on Nov. 2nd.

So you really think it's easy. Okey dokey. There's a website here where you can apply.

Farm Labor: Hot and Dusty in the Face of Stricter Laws
Life as a Farm Laborer

Farm hours vary with weather. During harvests, when crops risk rotting in the fields, long hours prevail: workers may work ten-to-twelve hours/day seven days some weeks; other weeks, because of rain, workers may wait till afternoon when fields dry to be called, or not get work much at all.

Field workers are exposed to dust, fertilizer, and pesticides. However, not all work in the fields: many work in warehouses, where work may be lighter and cooler, but is generally dusty too. Most are without tetanus shots. Injuries from knives and clippers put workers at risk for infection. Nevertheless, since workers do not get paid when they do not work, most tape up infected arms and say nothing. Older workers suffer in the sun's heat and from heart, lung, and blood pressure problems. According to PBS, farm workers have shorter-than-average lifespans.

Migrants are provided "barracas" or dormitories, but with long hours, many men do not keep their quarters particularly clean. The quarters for families and women are kept somewhat better. The patron also provides what food he has or can trade with neighboring farms to get: melons, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions. Food is more plentiful than money.

On an average day, field workers break from the grueling sun two or three times to sharpen tools, drink water, and perhaps enjoy melons. Wagons may come to the fields so workers can purchase sweet breads and soda. Workers either return to their dormitories to cook lunch or bring food cooked early in the morning or the previous night to the fields with them – beans, rice, salsa, sandwiches, and home-toasted tortillas.

What Now For Yuma?
Some U.S. residents have done farm labor and are used to the work. Others may work a few weeks after hearing of these "must hire" jobs at job service offices when nothing else seems to be moving. Perhaps farmers will lower quotas and try to encourage more workers to take up farming. And farms in other states will likely try to capture Yuma's lettuce market. However if the law survives till winter with no amendments for farm labor, smaller farms may suffer and larger farms rent fields in Mexico. With NAFTA, Mexico gave up some of its corn market to the U.S. Perhaps it's only fair that the U.S. give its lettuce market to Mexico.

Persons interested in farm work can go to the United Farm Workers' takeourjobs initiative. So far a few people and celebrities have signed up. Last checked however, the site was frequently unavailable. An alternative is to contact United Farm Workers, the group sponsoring the takeourjobs initiative. Their email is: [email protected] or [email protected].
