A baby just died in TN from Krabbe's Disease a genetic disease which can be treated with a questionable outcome with stem cell transplant when screened at birth. Usually parents find out they are carriers when its too late and an child is dx with the genetic disorder. So now they have a bill in TN to screen for this in newborns. They screen in a few states at this time.

Tom Price probably had a hairy when T offered to help baby Charlie from the UK.

In 2011, Price and other lawmakers signed a letter asking the head of HHS to "push for the withdrawal" of the panel's draft prostate screening recommendations. The panel was made up of "bureaucrats," the letter said, and decisions about prostate testing were best left to doctors and their patients. "This recommendation jeopardizes the health of countless American men," the letter said.

The task force went ahead and in 2012 recommended that men of all ages forgo using blood tests to search for prostate cancer. The recommendation didn't apply to men with a history of prostate cancer.

Snip

Three years later, Price signed two letters protesting the task force's proposed recommendations that mammograms be given every two years for healthy and risk-free women between the ages of 50 and 74, and by individual choice for women between 40 and 49. Other groups, including the American College of Radiology, recommend starting mammograms at 40 and having them every year or two.

HHS Nominee Tom Price Targeted Panel That Urged Fewer Cancer Screenings

Who wants to take health care away and research (he is against stem cell research as well) look no further than Republicans. Just remember who you voted for and who picked Price as secretary. A PSA , a simple blood test for prostate ca. This is your new health secretary before he even had the position.

You are misreading. With Obamacare, the recommendation was for less screening of the prostate and less often mammograms. He did not agree with the new recommendations. He said it should be up to the doctors and their patients, as it should be.

Well if its not recommended do you really think insurance will pay, NO. I insisted my husband get a PSA test and we had to pay for it. Not recommended, insurance does not need to pay and usually does not. With the ACA, there was also no copays for these cancer screening.

Because the Dem realize that the earlier you dx ca , the cheaper the treatment and better prognosis.

It used to be once a year after a certain age. They have now recommended, under Obamacare, men never really have it and women every 2 years, rather than every year. If a doctor recommends the old guidelines, it should be paid for. And that is what Price is for.
