Told Ya' America Was A Center-Right Nation

The GOP has not been hijacked by the radical right. If anything they have been hijacked by too many promoting or consenting to a leftist socialist agenda. And that is why they became alienated from their base and lost their majority in 2006 and took another drubbing in 2008. Those center right Americans that were their base were thoroughly disgusted with them and refused to support them.

The Tea Partiers and similar movements are doing their damndest to drag them back to the right and may in fact be successful in doing so. If they can, look for a GOP landslide in November and again in 2012. But if the GOP then again fails to govern as they campaign, I think they will be toast and will disappear as a major American poltical party.

Somehow, however, we have to keep this country from sliding into a socialist abyss to the point that it loses all the qualities that have made it the great nation that it is.

This country is no where near any socialist agenda and Obama is no socialist. Republicans, who have been the dominate power for 30 years have almost destroyed America. The middle class is becoming extinct, and if current Republicans ever regain power, they will finish the job. You right wingers and your far right wing bullshit are the byproducts of propaganda pollution. Today, we are living in the smoking ruins of a failed revolution...the Reagan revolution.

Trickle down never happened...the wealth disparity today is identical to 1928...

Every lesson learned during the Great Depression and piece of legislation enacted to prevent that catastrophic event from happening again were basically removed, bypassed or not enforced by Republicans...

Radicals believe somehow human nature will evolve if they get their agenda enacted...it DOESN'T...

The SAME reasons we need regulations today existed in 1928
The SAME reasons we need unions today existed in 1928

The Robber Barons had their day, we don't need to give them a second chance...

I think you need to ask for a refund from whatever poli-sci course taught you this stuff.

I think you need to educate yourself...you've failed miserably so far... you have the right to your own opinion, but not your own facts...

"Washington (CNN) – A majority of Americans think the federal government poses a threat to rights of Americans, according to a new national poll.

Fifty-six percent of people questioned in a CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey released Friday say they think the federal government's become so large and powerful that it poses an immediate threat to the rights and freedoms of ordinary citizens. Forty-four percent of those polled disagree.

The survey indicates a partisan divide on the question: only 37 percent of Democrats, 63 percent of Independents and nearly 7 in 10 Republicans say the federal government poses a threat to the rights of Americans."

Those on the right believe Government based on 1. consent of the governed, 2. limited government…limited in purpose, but not weak: powerful in protecting rights, 3. responsible Constitutionalism: the government is responsible to the people, not responsible for them. (should not take on too many jobs.)

For those on the left, the government must become the Administrative State, involved in every aspect of our lives.

Looks like most folks have made their choice.

Simple question....if this country is center right..how did Obama win? Not only win but electorally, it was a landslide.

Explain that little fact.

He promised to govern center right. And people were so desperate to believe him that they ignored all the evidence against that probability.
That's exactly what happened.

No, the only chart Americans are concerned about is:

Bullshit...

Americans are looking to BECOME employed...

Stop looking to the past and concentrate on the future...

Right now the jobs market sucks as much as you did Ted Kennedy....

The devastation created over the past 8 years by the most incompetent president in our history doesn't just evaporate...the jobs market is fantastic compared to where it was just one short year ago.

It could take a decade to recover from 8 years of the worst job creation president

You're not living in this reality, pea brain...

Nobody, be they liberal or conservative or indpendent, would use the word "fantastic" when referring to today's job market...

It could take a decade to recover from 8 years of the worst job creation president
Then why is your boyking making things worse? Why is he proposing a lame jobs bill that won't actually create jobs?

Why do you people cling to this mythology? Every single Republican candidate who lost in 2006 and 2008 lost to an opponent who was to the left of that Republican. That is hardly a message sent by the voters that the GOP isn't conservative enough; that is merely the feel good myth that the 20% on the far right believe to make themselves feel good.

It was not the Republican base who was voting for the more left candidate, however. They were elected because so many center right Americans (that would include most Republicans, the majority of Independents, and maybe 25% or so of Democrats) were so disgusted with the GOP that they refused to support anybody. So they didn't vote or they voted for a third party candidate.

As Glenn Beck said recently, it isn't good enough to just not suck as much as the other side sucks. So the Progressive Lite Republicans were punished at the polls, and the Tea Party movement rose from the grass roots to re-educate politicians about what the center right Americans--that would be a good majority of Americans--want from their government and the people they elect to make it happen.

Only a MORON would not be able to see that it is fantastic when you COMPARE it to where it was, and where it was heading...

If you right wing pea brains had your way, you would have let the whole economy FAIL

Do you need a magnifying glass, or your mommy to explain the chart to you?

I havent read the first 3 pages of this thread. Sue me.

Just came to say that I'm betting this poll would have been the same during either of the two Bush terms and Clinton's. People hate THE GOVERNMENT...not who's in the government. Don't get me wrong they want to "vote the bums out"...but more and more whomever's in office is incidental. People think they hate Obama...but it's really just anti-government hatred.

Doesn't really prove we're a right-leaning nation. Sorry.

Hey PoliticalChic, I'm sure someone's asked you this before, but there's no chance you actually look like Cuthbert, is there? My wife's really hot, but I have a Cuthbert crush. Putting her in a comic-book costume makes it even worse. Wait...what were we talking about?

I dont think your "chart" is big enough s0n!!!!:lol::lol:

May I point out once again.............reality is 95% perception. The only people who THINK the jobs market is fantastic are the 21%er internet k00ks. Nobody else. Thats the political reality s0n.........and posting up 100 bogus charts isnt going to change it. Friday comes the jobs report. LMAO........the White House is already preparing to blame the poor :tomato:#'s in the winter storms!!!!!

So the ? becomes..................

If the jobs market were so "fantastic", why the fcukk would the administration even bother to use excuses...........I can just hear Larry Summers now "Well........if it werent for the fcukking blizzards, our numbers would be fantastic!!!!!"

LOL........more phenomenal leadership!!!!

Its all about the perceptions s0ns..............
