Fudd Alert! Only Landowners Can Lend a Shotgun in the UK - The Truth About Guns

As the law stands, Section 11(5) of the 1968 Act allows “an individual, without holding a shotgun certificate, to borrow a shotgun from the occupier of private premises and use it on those premises in the occupier’s presence”.

Taking your son or daughter out shooting or participating in a Young Shots day, where they can be taught and experience handling and using a shotgun, is one of the best ways to introduce the younger generation safely to the sport. But unless you are borrowing a shotgun from the “occupier” of the land and the occupier is “present”, then this cannot legally be done. If there is no occupier present the only way for a young person to participate is to obtain a shotgun certificate.

One point.......they allow the rich and the powerful to own shotguns for hunting on their private estates.......soooooo....what keeps them from walking into a school, a theater or a mall with their shotguns....or having them stolen by a nut......and shooting a lot of people....?

Which gun control law prevents that....

And of course......last year there was a 19 year old who ordered up a Glock 19 on the dark web with enough ammo to more than double the murders from our Sandy Hook shooting....did British gun control stop him....? No....the idiot started posting about going to his former university to shoot people...and the Bobbies arrested him.....not one British gun control law stopped him from getting the gun...or stopped him from being a mass shooter...

From the article...

Gun control advocates hold a “gun free” UK near and dear to their disarmament-loving hearts. American Fudds — hunters and sportsman who couldn’t give a toss about the gun rights of people who own or aspire to own handguns or ARs — are OK with the UK’s gun control regime. Yes, well, civilian disarmament is a slippery slope. The gun banners will have your shotguns and hunting rifles too, mate.

Nobody is going to take your gun in America. It isn't going to happen now or anytime in the foreseeable future. People have been saying it for decades. It hasn't happened, and won't happen.
When Obama became President we, the middle class, have been screwed in many ways - but grabbing our guns didn't happen...and it won't.
America has a VERY-VERY strong gun ownership culture. I myself have a 9mm Ruger, a 12 gauge pump and an AR-15...I have no fear anyone is going to take any of them. It would be absolute political suicide for any politician to even begin to try.

So let's see if I've got this right... anyone in Britain can own a shotgun, but if going to hunt on someone's private property you have to get their permission basically. Correct?

No....you can only loan a shotgun to a friend on your own property if you are present, no matter what his legal status is.....and if you get caught no following this rule....you loose your gun rights forever.......

It has happened. It happened in NJ after they required Assault Weapon registration, it happened in New Orleans when the cops went door to door, it's happened every time licenses and registration is required. It just doesn't happen all at once.

Death by a thousand cuts.

Yes...you lose so you now have to lie about the issue......typical.

The regulations on firearm ownership...which is limited to hunting shotguns and rifles......are so excessive that the rich and the powerful can get them...but the average person is excluded......the tests, the fees and the regulations.....exactly what the gun grabbers want.......

Take CA..the gun laws are indeed stupidly complex. It is not simple to get a concealed carry as other states, but like most states - I can drive up to any gun dealer in CA and walk out with a hand gun with no permit.
