8:46 a.m. September 11, 2001: First WTC Attack Recorded on Video, but Not Broadcast Until Evening

http://www.historycommons.org/event...28&drafts=null&timeline=complete_911_timeline

Flight 11 hits the WTC North Tower at 8:46. This video still is the only well-known image of this crash (from the French documentary). [Source: Gamma Press]Two French documentary filmmakers are filming a documentary on New York City firefighters about ten blocks from the WTC. One of them hears a roar, looks up, and captures a distant image of the first WTC crash. They continue shooting footage nonstop for many hours, and their footage is first shown that evening on CNN. [New York Times, 1/12/2002] President Bush later claims that he sees the first attack live on television, but this is technically impossible, as there was no live news footage of the attack. Obama brings disaster down on the USA like a moron in the face of Islamic Jihad murdering binges breaking out all over the Middle East (because they are getting press pity for murdering Americans) and the Clinton/Obama spinroom can come up with only one and only one defense---

Boooosssshhh!!!

Double to the rear, MARCH!!!!!

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

What's odd is that I saw the video of first plane hitting the tower minutes after it happened. The account of Bush learning of the first plane's crash was that he was TOLD. He didn't see it.

And the president, the principal of the school and I were standing at the door when one of the staffers for the National Security Council came up and said, “Sir, it appears there’s been a small twin-engine plane crashed into one of the World Trade Center towers in New York City.” And the reaction, kind of unspoken, was “Oh, it’s a horrible accident. The pilot must have had a heart attack or something.” And the principal then opened the door of the classroom and escorted the president in and the door shut.

He told Bush that

The commentary on how disreputable we were as a nation even at that time is this comment:

that staffer came to me and said, “Oh my gosh” — he used another word — and said another plane hit the other tower at the World Trade Center.

He used another word, that cannot be said in public. He said "Oh my God". Oddly when I was watching the coverage and saw on live TV the second plane hit the second tower, the reporter said "Oh my God, there's another plane". My first thought was This guy is going to be fired for saying God on live TV.

To wingnuts, all facts are biased.

These are compiled by news stories that were published at the time.

If you can counter anything in that with actual facts of your own, get hopping, Skippy.

You won't, 'cause you can't.

Already answered, dumbfuck:

I have a few sad facts to break to the OP:

1) It's 2012, not 2001
2) Barack Obama is President, not George W Bush.
3) Even if we accept your argument that Bush made mistakes, it sure as heck didnt involve being focused on going on David Letterman.

Of course its biased and there are those who will believe it.

There are even those who think Bush knew about it and did nothing. Hell some idiots think that the Govt brought the buildings down.

I've read they had warnings but Americas a big place. Do you shut down every major city and ground all planes due to that warning?? How long do you shut things down for?? A day?? Two days?? A week?? A month??

People need to use common sense which seems to be sadly lacking on the board. If Bush and know the where and the when things would have been different. He didn't so we have 9-11.

Clinton had several opportunities to take out UBL but didn't. If he had would that have put a stop to 9-11?? Who can say. The fact remains that he didnt' kill that dirtbag when he had the chance. Is Clinton to blame for 9-11??

9-11 was and is a tragedy but the folks to blame are the dirtbag terrorists who flew the planes and the dirtbag terrorists who planned it.

The OP has no political commentary, Left or Right. It was posted as a valuable reference of the day's events.

If there is an error in the timeline, you are free to correct it, using sourced facts.

(8:55 a.m.) September 11, 2001: President Bush Chats with Greeting Committee Instead of Taking Urgent Call from Rice

At the Booker Elementary School in Sarasota, a small greeting committee has been waiting for the president to arrive. Among this group are two congressmen, Adam Putnam (R-FL) and Dan Miller (R-FL). A White House staffer has informed them that the president has an important call to take from Condoleezza Rice. According to Putnam, they were told, “When he arrives, and he’ll be here in a minute, he’s going to walk past you. He’s not being rude; he’s just got to take this phone call.” [GW Hatchet, 4/8/2002; St. Petersburg Times, 9/8/2002] President Bush reportedly is informed of the first WTC crash when he arrives at the school (see (Between 8:55 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.) September 11, 2001). Like others traveling in the president’s motorcade (see (Between 8:46 a.m. and 8:55 a.m.) September 11, 2001), Captain Deborah Loewer, the director of the White House Situation Room, learned of the crash during the journey. She runs up to the president, she later says, “[a]s soon as the motorcade stopped,” and informs him of it (see (8:55 a.m.) September 11, 2001). [Dayton Daily News, 8/17/2003; Springfield News-Sun, 7/6/2006] Yet in spite of therefore likely already knowing of the crash, Bush seems in no hurry to take Rice’s call. Putnam later recalls, “Well, he comes up and does not go past us. He stops and talks with us, having a good chat with the teacher of the year.” (This is Edwina Oliver, who is also part of the greeting committee.) White House chief of staff Andrew Card says, “Mr. President. You have a phone call from National Security Adviser Rice you need to take.” According to Putnam, Bush “says OK. [But he] goes on talking with the teacher of the year. ‘I’ll be right there.’ Card comes back to him, grabs him by the arm and says, ‘Mr. President, you need to take this call right now.’”

LOL, the first thing they do is bring UP Booooooooooooooooooooosh whenever there is ANY criticizing of Obama...

Anyone else notice that..?
