The Left never stops preaching its doctrine of "Surrender is good. Surrender is wise" to Communism. Jimmy Carter preached that narrative to us first, but fortunately back then, most American ears perked up and they immediately asked themselves "Whoa! What is this motherf@#$er saying?" and we quickly got Ronald Reagan. Today with the media infinitely prone to running off into their corners and masturbating with every word that drips from Obama's mouth, its not likely we'll be as lucky.

Now Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy comes back from Cuba practically mouthing Jimmy Carter's words. Vermont graciously bequeathed us the "Green Mountain Men" during our struggle for independence 237 years ago. Today Vermont is populated mostly by not so independent and self reliant, creature comfort loving Latte Sippers so we get Leahy and lets forget our principals and surrender instead.

Dem Sen. Patrick Leahy Says Time To Embrace Communist Cuba After Meeting With Raul Castro? | Weasel Zippers

Embracing communism is the same as embracing prison. I don't see a lot of difference between the two.

I heard on the news today that Castro just appointed a non-revolutionist as VP, a first. He also said he will not remain in office after this 4 year term expires which would open the political landscape for reformers. Castro knows the writing is on the wall and I think they will be opening Cuba up to more pro-western ideas. We can encourage the transition or try to retard it, my opinion is we should encourage and aid them in a very controlled manner. As they demonstrate a willingness to move to a democratic society we should ease restrictions.

Ceasing to fear a political system that is effectively dead is surrender? You guys are a hoot.

Communism is only a shadow of its former self, but it is not yet dead. The worst part is that many of the idiotic ideas of that political system are still alive and well in these United States.

One of the worst of those dumb ideas is that government has the wisdom and the honesty to plan and control all, or part of, a national economy.

CSNY - Find the Cost of Freedom

What is it exactly that you advocate the surrender of Free Will for?

Having had the opportunity of knowing several people that had escaped the clutches of communism, and socialism, my position remains resolute in that there is no other form of government then that of which we have that provides a greater opportunity to achieve ones aspirations.

It's silly not to trade with Cuba. Its internal politics should be of no concern to the US.
