When people are taking SSRI's or other antidepressants, perhaps we shouldn't let them drive since they might use their cars as deadly weapons?

And there is no reason to suppose that children never or only very rarely are afflicted with this scourge.

Having read a great many of GW's (the OP's) posts - he's no scientologist. I find him to be quite mellow and reasonable, and respect his opinions.

My understanding is that he had drawn no conclusion on this, but was simply raising a question about misdiagnosis/misprescription of anti-depressants.

Antidepressants can be life saving for many people. Are they over prescribed? Most likely. This does not mean everybody taking them will commit a violent act or become suicidal or homicidal. In fact, many times, it prevents these feeling in people suffering from mental illness. You should be under the supervision of a Psychiatrist and it works best with other therapy as well but these drugs are most definitely needed.
