''Til Death Do Us Part" Is Dying Out

My wife and I both had till death do we part in our vows, because marrigae is supposed to be a lifelong vow. My wife had been married previously; however, her ex-husband decided that the vows about adultery (forsaking all others...) and abuse (to have, hold, love, honor, etc.) were not worth keeping. So she left him - and justifiably so. So I think it's important to realize that just staying together isn't the only vow to keep: we're supposed to keep all out wedding vows.

I had "till death do us part" in my wedding vows and 16 yrs later we're still going strong. People need to think of a marriage like a roller coaster with it's ups and downs. A marriage takes work and compromise, especially after kids, to last.

It's a sad day when peoples vows include "together until we get bored", or some other stupid saying that takes commitment out of the marriage.
