That's in the UK of course. The Democrat Party proposal for Medicare for All would outlaw private contracts between healthcare providers and patients. A patient would be forced to leave the country if they wanted to choose a doctor which wasn't assigned to them, or get a procedure the system didn't want to cover.

I should look it up because I forget the circumstances, but as I recall he had a liver transplant but never stopped abusing the cause of his disease. Whatever it was, there were more than a few negative comments about giving a transplant to someone who would just go back to the old ways and waste a good organ that somebody else would respect. So I suspect that what Sarah Palin decided to call a death panel was not so outrageous idea in some instances.

Thousands of elderly people in Britain are left to go blind because of rationing of eye surgery in the National Health Service (NHS), a report revealed on Saturday (April 6).

The Times newspaper said a survey by the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (RCO) found tens of thousands of elderly people are left struggling to see because of an NHS cost-cutting drive that relies on them dying before they can qualify for cataract surgery.

The survey has found that the NHS has ignored instructions to end cataract treatment rationing in defiance of official guidance two years ago.

The RCO said its survey has found 62 per cent of eye units retain policies that require people’s vision to have deteriorated below a certain point before surgery is funded.
