Very sad state of affairs for the Brits. Unfortunately it only takes one or two nutter Imams and a few hundred deluded nutter followers to create a lot of aggro.

Hate crimes, severe punishments for DUI's, overreactions to drugs, smoking bans, taking out trans fats, forcing us to wear seat belts, taking away peoples right to bear arms........

We continue to sit by and allow our politicians to pass legislation constricting our free choice, living life on their terms, and as overreactions to terrible crimes of the past.

In 25 years they will be limiting how many cars we can own, how much T.V. we can watch, and how many sexual partners we can have.

And we will all sit by nodding our heads, waiting for a giant Indian to put a pillow over our face.

Yes Socialism certainly is on the march here in America. Unfortunately there just doesn't seem to be a whole lot of opposition to it at this point. People just seem so willing to give away all of their Freedoms & Liberties. The Government is not so much taking our Freedoms & Liberties away. The people are instead just giving them away to the Government. Yea there will be a day when the Government will tell you what you can drive,what you can eat,what & how you can worship,and of course what you can say.

Western Europe has already gone down this Socialism road. Now their people are openly spied on 24/7 by their Governments with video cameras everywhere. In the UK they have even created a Fat Police Gestapo with the authority to storm citizens' homes and confiscate their children if deemed "Obese" by the State. Yikes! Now our own Government is getting set to punish all those damn "Evil" soda drinkers and potato chip eaters by way of punitive taxation. "Hate Speech" Laws will be coming soon as well. They have done this in Western Europe and Canada already. Our Socialists will be pushing for these Laws in our nation very soon. The Socialists in Western Europe and Canada have routinely used these Laws to silence anyone who disagrees with them. We're all watching it happen but seem to be powerless to stop it. It really is just so sad in the end.

I have to agree with the comments about the British government and it would be interesting to hear from Brit members on it (not that I want to derail the thread). I'm okay with advice and education on things that affect us individually and collectively but I'm very suspicious of what has been called "nudge" policy where legislators (who have all the power) push us bit by bit to the position they want, for whatever reason they're doing it.

But I'm not going to put it down to socialism. I'm going to argue that in fact it is a result of economic rationalism.

Yes the Brits especially do a lot of preaching to other nations about Freedom and Human Rights but in reality they themselves have very little of either one. Their Government monitors its citizens' every move at this point. They openly spy on their own people with video cameras everywhere and those are only the ones you can see. If a Government can openly spy on its own people that way,just imagine what they are doing secretly? Now they're even creating Fat Police Gestapos over there. Their Government simply told its citizens that it was all "For their own Good" and the citizens believed them. All Socialist/Communist regimes tell their people that it's all "For your own Good." When Governments tell you that,you just know they're taking more of your Freedoms & Liberties away. This is now going on in our country as well. What can be done to stop the Socialists at this point? Who can we turn to? Hmm?

Hate Crime legislation is nothing more than thought crimes legislation because whenever a crime is committed you punish that person for their action such as beating up a black person because you are a member of the KKK. The crime is not being a KKK member or harboring racist thoughts and motives but assaulting that person but to punish someone beyond the initial crime for what their motives were is punishing those motives themselves.

ANY crime that involves personal injury or death, committed by another person, without the victim doing anything to deserve it, is a hate crime.

That would include stabbings, shootings, muggings, beatings, etc.

Why do I say this?

Simple..........you only hurt the people that you don't like. The ones you like, or the ones you love, you protect.

The idea of CCTV in public was for crime prevention - crime prevention on the cheap. No need to hire more people to become coppers. Same reason they created a new class of public security officer who isn't trained to be a copper and not paid the same. Economic rationalism. That's not to say some of the policies of the Brit government aren't stupid - plainly they are.

Interestingly enough, there wasn't a paid police force in Biblical times.

If you caught a criminal or a wanted person and turned them over to the authorities, the authorities paid you a standard price..........30 pieces of silver.

Incidentally, that's why Judas was given 30 pieces of silver. Yeshua was a wanted man, and since Judas turned Him in, that's why he received the 30 pieces of silver.

I stated there, and I repeat here, Hate crime bill entirely violates the equal protection clause of the Constitution.
