Best ever? Who knows. Best now? Obviously. Not that a bunch of losers from Arkansas helped by thoroughly quitting the game. Oh the humiliation. I hope you win it all.

Best team ever is the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.

At one point during the season they defeated, in consecutive weeks, #14 Syracuse 59-0 and #12 Washington 65-7. In the BCS National Championship Game vs Nebraska they were up 34-0 by halftime lol

Some of the future NFL players on that team:

Andre Johnson
Jeremy Shockey
Clinton Portis
Willis McGahee
Bryant McKinnie
Jonathan Vilma
Ed Reed
Sean Taylor
Vince Wilfork
Philip Buchanon

LSU defeated 3 top THREE teams in the regular season, Oregon, Alabama, and Arkansas.

How many top 3 teams did Miami defeat in their 2001 regular season?

I'd say, top to bottom, Bama's defense is the best to ever play college football.

I'm inclined to agree with you. Unfortunately for Bama, having a slightly better defense than the other team, an equal offense to the other team, and dismal special teams performance compared to the best special teams unit in the league - means you lose.

Let's see how they do in the SEC title game and the BCS championship before we start throwing around this "best ever" malarkey.

Right right. They've only beaten #3, #25, #16, #17, #20, #2, and #3 if you go by rankings at the times of the games - and current BCS #2, #8, #9 and #23 - and with the exception of Bama - thoroughly pounded each and everyone of its opponents into the ground - and only ONE of its BCS top 25 opponents did it have the home field advantage against.

They will pound the shit out of Georgia and if a team other than Bama makes it to the NC game they will pound the shit out of them, too. When its the 1st quarter - LSU has a 1st quarter team on the field and their opponent has a 1st quarter team on the field. In the 4th quarter - their opponent has a 4th quarter team on the field but LSU still has a 1st quarter team. They have stamina and depth and given 60 minutes they will simply OUTLAST anyone they play - many of their games have been very close in the first half and the start of the 3rd qtr - but in the end they just ROMP on their opponents and tear them to bits (except Bama, who is a very close 2nd).

LSU and Bama are in a class all their own. There is no team in college football that can beat these teams except each other.
