This is a No Win proposition for the GOP

If they were done for no reason then why did the Democratic Congress pass it and why did Obama sign it?
Do Democrats ever take responsibility for anything?

Because republicans were holding the middle class portion hostage at the time silly person. I would have no problem with the cuts for the rich if they actually spent the money they saved on taxes in the American economy but they don't so why keep them and why continue to claim they are stimulative? Tax cuts for the working and middle classes are stimulative because it all gets spent on large purchases as soon as the refund check lands in the mailbox but the rich and the banks are hoarding cash like scrooge and tax cuts for them is taking money out of the economy and locking it up in a vault.

The solidly Democratic Congress did not need a single GOP vote to pass any piece of legislation they wanted.
Try again.

The selective amnesia is strong in this one.

It's almost as if you think tax cuts should be eternal and irreversible, The Bush tax cuts were a temporary program, we extended them four more years for no good reason. Other than your ideological aversion to taxation you cannot give a fiscal dollars and cents reason to continue them. You cannot say they are creating jobs or stimulating the economy or anything other than letting them lapse are some kind of loss for your ideology.

Barack Obama and the Democrats extended the Bush tax cuts because they understood that not doing so would result in an already tepid economy slowing down even more. What they are doing now...raising taxes in the midst of a STILL slowed economy makes ZERO sense from an economic perspective. It's stupid fiscal policy and it will not grow the economy and it will not put people back to work.

How soon they forget. Republicans were not going to allow the cuts to expire on the wealthy and keep them for everyone else even though the crash was barely a speed bump for the really wealthy people while the rest of us experienced the largest contraction of wealth since the great depression.

The Dems did not need a single GOP vote to pass legislation.
The wealthy suffered the greatest loss of wealth of any socio-economic strata.

If that's hurting I could easily turn into a masochist.

On December 15, 2010, the Senate passed the compromise package with an 81–19 vote, with large majorities of both Democrats and Republicans supporting it.[49] Near midnight on December 16, the House passed the measure on a vote of 277–148, with only a modest majority of Democrats but a large majority of Republicans voting for the package

59 Democrats in the Senate, 41 GOP.
255 Dems in the House, 179 GOP.
The Dems did not need a single GOP vote.

Because "they can afford it" right?

You spout off about Republicans holding people "hostage", which is a bunch of hogwash while completely ignoring the fact that President Obama and the Democrats are holding millions of out of work and under employed Americans hostage with their fiscal policies. The tax raise on the wealthy and the looming ObamaCare taxes that are about to kick in? You think ANY of that is going to help those poor bastards that have been out of work for YEARS now? Where is the concern for them?

Where the hell is your concern? You are going insane over the fact that the rich might have to pay what they did before we went on a 13 year ride to "free" market Hell. The rich will be fine with the old tax rate, they will hardly even notice them, but the rest of the country is pretty much in a hole and all half of our elected officials can do is close ranks around the only Americans who do not need help right now.

The rest of the country is who will pay the price for this fiscal "idiocy" by people like yourself and Barack Obama. The rich will do what they always do when the tax man comes after them...they'll shift capital into tax free investments and shelters. The people who will actually be hurt by what you progressives are proposing are those that don't have jobs right now or are only working part time. Why? Because those tax increases on the wealthy are going to divert capital from investments that create jobs into investments that protect wealth.

My "concern" is that I haven't heard anything concrete on spending cuts from this Administration. Couple that with this idiotic idea of raising taxes in the middle of a weak economy and you're presenting the perfect scenario for another recession coupled with yet another credit rating downgrade. Your preoccupation with what is "fair" is dooming millions with ongoing joblessness but you're so fixated on the wealth that the top 2% is making that you can't see that the fiscal policies you're advocating are a death sentence for millions of Americans who desperately are seeking employment.
