* Due to the real estate bust, home equity — the #1 source of retirement money for most Americans — has all but vanished in most parts of the country.

* Thanks to the stock market debacle that followed — with the S&P plunging by more than HALF — hundreds of billions in additional wealth and retirement savings were wiped out.

* And thanks to the great recession, about one in five Americans is out of work or underemployed.

The economic contraction that all of that points to is very serious and portends further decay in the economy, as we have not dealt with the underlying problem in our Service Sector dominant (70%) economy, and that is JOBS!

We have a do nothing president who is not creating jobs. In a service sector economy, jobs create more jobs, and loss of jobs creates further unemployment.

We are still in the "creation of further unemployment stage" of this Depression with no hope of any strong hiring in the near future. We have to chose a project to get the ball rolling. Bring the water to the West and increase land under cultivation. Plant corn and make alcohol for fuel and libation. Do it now!

It's worse than 1978. There's not even a single Reagan on the horizon. But right now, even he wouldn't cut it. We need more of a Coolidge. Silent Cal with the fire in the belly like Andrew Jackson would be ideal.

Obama must be the most efficient president ever. All that his fault in just a year or so?

Things are going to boom in the next 5 years minting millions of new rich. Just don't spend 90 percent of your day looking backwards.
