They Loan You Money. Then They Get a Warrant for Your Arrest.

Quite an abuse of an already shitty system. If they could do more of this type of shit, and less trying to launch a coup, they might not be treasonous scum.

From the article ...

"When they missed a court date, the company obtained a warrant for their arrest."

When you're summoned to court, and you don't show, a warrant is issued from the bench for your arrest. A court summons is a legal court order, don't show and you're breaking the law. After your arrest, you are bailed to a new court date.

No one was arrested for borrowing money, they were arrested for failing to answer a lawful summons.

Yeah, but it is gaming the system, aiming at people struggling to keep their head above water, even without some clever and ruthless operator, actively targeting them.

This type of shit, is wrong, morally and ethically.

No one is forced to take a payday loan. If you legislate payday lenders out of existence, they will be replaced. They won't be replaced by people who take you to court. They will be replaced by people who break your legs.

If the person had showed up to court to plead his case, the judge may very well have dismissed a civil debt if he found it had been incurred unlawfully. However, the 'victim' in this case, decided not to go to court when summoned.

And the laws are wrong. These loans should not be legal.

Payday loans are overly aggressive but as was said....no one is forcing them to use this service.
That's not a good argument for keeping something legal.

Dont rob a liquor store and dont take a payday loan.
Seems pretty obvious to me.
Good for you.

So you're a client?
Yes genius, that's right. For anyone to know much more than you about this, they must be a client. I always wondered how you fools went through life so wrong all the time and kept from getting embarrassed. Now we know: self delusion.

I'm not the one using payday loans.

And they use a simple mistake like that, to end up using the government as muscle to collect their loans.

That is not the intent of those laws. THey are being abused. That the judges and the police involved are playing along, does not reflect well on any of them.

Yes, payday loans should be legislated out of existence. They are an ill on society. Yes, the niche will be replaced by loan sharks. THe loan sharks, when caught, will be sentenced to hard time.

LIke it should be.
