These are 7 year old girls for crying out loud!

Let them learn on their own. Seven is entirely too young to be coaching them in eroticism and certainly too young to be displayed to perverts.

The dancers dont see any of it as being coached in eroticism. The were coached to dance and dance well. You see it as erotic and it beyond your limits. Fair enough

The girls were not put on stage for the gratification of perverts.

Way to much to respond to individually so ill just make a few comments.

As someone who as been that child on the stage dancing.

Its fun!!! It burns off energy, and trust me these girls got some energy to burn. Its taking control of your body in a good way. There is no impressed ideas of sex about anything you learn. You learn team work and how to compete to win. There is an understanding that what you are doing is what is needed to win. Simple as that. You take off the makeup and costume and go right back to being a kid.

I never saw, nor did I go home and start putting on makeup and sexy clothes. None of us danced at school. None of us wore our costumes anywhere excepted when needed. None of us were "boy crazy." We were to busy, to absorbed, in what we were doing to pay much attention to anything but school and dancing. Our friends were the other girls we danced with.

Don't assume that the parents are not teaching them good values. Dancing is not slut training.

What I am getting is that many of you are saying you worried about the "message" that all of this is sending to the dancers. They learn that you need stage makeup. You learn that your can compete and win. There is no message its just dancing.

As I said before a good deal of the problem is Beyonce, and by that, projecting it onto the dancers. The song itself as a fun beat, it has energy. That is why they used it. Now if you really listen the words the song it actually has a good message. Its about valuing yourself and not being treated badly.

I think that Barbi dolls and Glamor magazines are a worse message. That is truly teaching sexuality.

How about karaite and the like. What message are they learning? Hit harder and faster. Beat the shit out of your opponent, do it better and you will win.

The messages children learn is what the parents teach them. No more or less. Karaite is not teaching children to be bullies, nor is dancing teaching your children to be sluts.

And parents should not be teaching or approving their seven-year-olds using their bodies in a sexual way in order to win competitions or gain approval.

In a former life I headed a large social organization that among other things had a comprehensive dance program for all ages: tap, ballet, contemporary, lyrical, and ball room. Hip hop wasn't a real big thing yet or we no doubt would have had that too.

But I cannot imagine in a million years our staff choreographing a routine for the little ones like those girls were doing in that video. And had we done so, the parents would have blasted us without mincing words and would have yanked their kids out of that program so fast all we would have seen was a blur.

And, unless they were able to make big amends fast, the dance staff would have been out the door too.

Yep. its up to the parents to decide if, or if not, their kids are being "sexualised."

Obviously, they don't.

The interesting thing is, I would like to see these kids do some other type routine. Lets face it, they can dance. This one was inappropriate because of the clothes, but they can dance.

Gotta go with hysteria on the reaction. Didn't watch the whole thing but from what I did see it looked more like athleticism than sexualism. For 7 year olds they made some impressive dance moves and I think this is a case where we rob their innocence by injecting ideas of which they are not aware.

Good grief.

It's obvious you have nothing intelligent or worthwhile to say.

So why feel obliged to join in?

You are a fuckin' putz. Most definitely.

I wouldn't have chosen those outfits for the kids, but the outfits were not the problem that I saw in that video. The choreography was.

Foxfyre, have you see any of the other routines for this level of winning dance and for this age class? I posted a few links a ways back in this thread. The choreography is current standard.

That makes me ever more sad. Sigh.

If that is the cultural standard for current times it is little wonder that little girls are seen more and more as sex objects, child porn has become epidemic, and so many children are denied a childhood.

That really does distress me.

For jazz/hip-hop yes that is standard. Which is why i say it wasn't the dance or costumes. The reason this one routine is getting so much attention is because of the music and sexual persona of Beyonce. That is what is being protected on to all of this.

This just seems to be another branch of the whole child pageant stuff that is also ridiculously over-the-top. Parents need to stop using their kids as ploys for money and to look at them as kids who need to be nurtured instead of dollar signs.

is it money or just fat mom's living vicariously? either way they are just raising another generation of materialistic whores. great prep to one day stars in real house wives

is saying something like "this would really turn muhammad on" inappropriate?

Yes.

And the truth is no defense.

But it's probably NOT as offensive as THIS:

The dancers don't know what is going on, may not yet understand what eroticism means. They are too young. It is being done by the parents and their dance instructor. The younger the gesturing females are, the more the perverts like it. Seven is too young.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I've got to watch grown women display legs and cleavage as they bounce through the Miss USA Contest. Damn! Those swimsuits are NICE!

I wonder how many of them have enhanced boobs! Tennessee for sure!

My home state is represented among the fifteen.

Interesting dichotomy.

How old do you think the Miss USA pageant contestants were when they got into the pageant business. Now that is am true meat market. There is no redeeming factors of that sexualization other then the message of "being beautiful" "being thin" "being a face and body" and yet you still watch.

And yes the perves get off on kids dancing. But that is the pervs problem. Not the dancers, the parents or the instructors.

I was thinking about this as well. Besides this, what else shouldn't anyone do because some people will think unclean thoughts about it?

It feels a little like the slippery slope to wearing a burka to me.

I don't know that it's ever safe. I say let the girls at least reach puberty before you train them to hunch provocatively. Leave the little girls alone.

Having trouble with quote commands, I see. I think sometimes the board just goes haywire....did that to me some time ago.

The pageant business for little girls should not contain adult content. I am familiar with pageants. My daughter won one at a very young age. She had been nominated by several friends and was a shoe-in. I was a judge at another...really hated telling a friend of mine's daughter that she wasn't the cutest thing in the line. I saw the ridiculousness of it (pushing young girls where they may not want to go) after those two events. It's nothing more than a cash cow for the people in the pageant business. They brainwash parents into believing their little angel can win...maybe...after they pay the entry fee.

None of this changes the notion that the video in the OP represents poor judgment (in my opinion) by the parents and teachers of those 7 year old girls.

that'll work.

How about waiting until they are 18 or legal so the poor high school boys don't go to prison.
