There is no common ground

When you fisk the same stupid for the 37th time, one gets weary of the futility of it all.

A conversation and a discussion in order to be worth continuing must have some respect for each other.

There are time when you figure all they want to do is emote and facts are an irrelevancy.

who is the one person in congress fighting against globalization and big government? and what do the so called "conservative" republicans think of him?

The left is progressive global bullshit .It includes all GOP wackos
There is no conservative equivalent.
It's like he's trying to tell us something....

As long as ine is stupid enough to think that the real game being played has anything to do with either the conservtive or liberal philosophies, one will continue to be a dupe.

FYI the opposite of liberal is NOT conservative.

The opposite of liberal is totalitarian.

One can be (and thinking people typically are) both conservative AND liberal.

Philosophically these different approaches to problems are not opposing viewpoints.

In this policial shadowdowpuppet theater we call government, the meanings of those words have been so distorted by hate mongers that using them in the way they've misinformed us to use them indicates that one is a clueless TOOL of the puppetmasters playing one CLUELESS side of DUPES off the other side also comprised of CLUELESS DUPES.

Bush II was NOT a conservative.

Obama is NOT a liberal.

Wake up and SMELL the SHAMOCRACY, Fitnah.

I think somebody fell for that line that they pass around that there's not difference between the two parties.

Democraps claim they are all things to all people but their views are totally different that most of the voters in this country.

No edit.... the opposite of liberal is not totalitarian... the opposite of totalitarian is more like participatory or democratic (in terms of input... I.E. not total governmental control)

The antonym of liberal, in terms of politics, is indeed conservative... just as the antonym of authoritarian is libertarian

Only to the stupid who don't know what liberalism actually means.

Liberalism is family of ideologies, usually referring (when not used by lying politicians) to refer to Classical Liberalism.

See that Locke character I quoted in my sig? Read him. He's one of the major names in liberalism. The FF quoted him quite a bit.

No.... in terms of political standing and ideology... liberalism or progressive (as it is more prevalently called today by some circles) is diametrically opposed to conservatism... being of the Democratic party one could claim a family of ideologies that are to the left of center such as liberalism, communism, socialism, etc... just as Republican can be of a family of ideologies such as conservatism, originalism (or what is sometimes called paleoconservatism), neoconservatism, etc

Fail. There is no ideology called 'conservatism'. 'Conservatism' describes no ideology. It means only that one supports either the staus quo or the status quo ante- which can be any current or existing socioeconomic system. The Tories were conservatives. So, too, were the supporters of the Czar during the Russian revolution.

'Paleoconservatism' is a word people made up because they don't want to admit they're liberals because they slandered the term. 'Paleoconservative' is basically a right-wing euphemism for classical liberalism. Modern 'conservatism' is a euphemism for corporatism with a hint of theocracy.

No.. because you are attempting to take a dictionary definition of the term conservative in relation to an approach...

By ideology, conservatism does not support an inherent status quo... try actually being genuine and realizing that slow change is not an aversion to change

Because YOU wish to paint a picture of conservatism being 'corporatism with a hint of theocracy' does not make it so... please don't try to put the attributed of a sub-set, such as Christian Conservatism, to the conservative ideology

Fail.

Conservatism, by definition, is support for the status quo or the status quo ante.

Because YOU wish to paint a picture of conservatism being 'corporatism with a hint of theocracy' does not make it so.
Correct. That people who call themselves 'conservatives' support corporatism with a hint of theocracy makes it so.

How about the global economy types?
The NAFTA type supporters?
How about the ones that were touting the mobile workforce of the new millenia?
