I dont know much about either ones current financial situations. I know in the past she had had trouble making ends meet and paying her bills.

That could actually be a plus for her as unemployment is over 9% and many more people not counted in that stat who want to work can't find jobs. These people may take sympathy on her financial troubles in her past as they are currently experiencing financial troubles themselves.
