I would rather pull up to a gas station and fillup my tank - than go through the BS of recharging my electric battery -the infrastructure for which is non-existenent.

I would rather drive my car -when and where i chose -than have to use public transit like trains and buses - where all sorts of unsavory characters hang out

"would rather" is nice sentiment, and we all agree with you...

but "would rather" does not compute in a world of 7+ billion people and rapidly dying existing capacity. ... the electric car will never be commercially viable on a mass scale.

by 2015, public transit will be one of the least of your problems, so you better get used to dealing with "unsavory characters" sooner rather than later.
