The Wall – Live in Berlin was a live concert performance by Roger Waters and numerous guest artists, of the Pink Floyd studio album The Wall, itself largely written by Waters during his time with the band. The show was held in Berlin on 21 July 1990, to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall eight months earlier. A live album of the concert was released 21 August 1990. A video of the concert was also commercially released (source of information: Wikipedia).

The sounds and performances are quite impressive, and guest musicians who accompanied Roger Waters' Pink Floyd for their iconic songs (including Comfortably Numb) include Cindy Lauper, The Band, and Van Morrison. However, far beyond the entertainment value of the audio-recording of this legendary and politically-symbolic rock-music concert was the actual video-film of the entire concert, which you can purchase now on DVD.

The concert video very-nicely brings together all the atmospheric aspects of what Waters envisioned for this unusual and memorable concert for what was obviously a very poignant/sensitive album (The Wall) for Waters.

The concert-video shows all the ambitious production and on-stage set-designs and theatrical presentations given during the show. It also shows how the guest-musicians complemented Pink Floyd's engaging stage presence. What really stands out are the two complementary performances by female pop-rock musicians Sinead O'Connor (Mother) and Cindy Lauper (Another Brick in the Wall).

O'Connor's stage-performance adds something truly lyrical to the Floyd song she sang, and Lauper's bold stage-performance highlights the rebellious angst of the Floyd song she sang. Lauper comes storming out on stage in a mock school uniform and wild and unruly (and huge!) crimped brown hair.

This is a concert-video for any fan of music and anyone interested in how music and pop-culture can be married to political podiums and events. This is a great DVD purchase. 5/5 stars easily.

Waters looks cool and confident (and happy!) with how the show proceeds...

The Band accompanies Waters and O'Connor on Mother and it's really great!

Lauper's raucous performance reminds everyone why Pink Floyd is so unusual...

O'Connor gives Mother a terrific human touch.

This is a concert-video for music fans interested in the music of the earlier generation.

I would compare this concert-video to any other, any other one a music fan thinks is the best concert-video ever made. The Wall in Berlin symbolizes pure skilful negotiation.

One of the most Unbelievable Super Groups of all time... I was fortunate and attended the Production (and believe me their concerts are a production) of Animals in Jan. 1977 at the Festhalle in Frankfurt, Germany... Words are inadequate...
