The Utter defeat of the Radical wing of the GOP.

Happened with the passing of the "Fiscal Cliff" bill.

They looked silly. Completely so.

And in the end, President Obama and the Congressional Democrats got what they wanted.

Which ultimately is good for the country. As I post this, the DOW is soaring. Up 237 points.

:clap2:

Since when has the GOP stood up to the Democrats?

We all know what to do in 2014.

Watch the Democrats win more seats in Congress?

Yes, and then what will we hear the GOP say? Are they still too extreme and right wing?

So what is the alternative? Is the alternative to just let the same poo continue? Pfft.

Let's check back in a year. What happened last night is that Obama finally took ownership of the economy. There is no one to blame but himself when things continue to get worse over the coming year......and it will. The CBO says that the deal will add $3.9 TRILLION more to the debt. Keep in mind that NO spending cuts were in the deal. Also, there was a little shell game going on that the media and liberals swallowed hook, line and sinker. While the BUSH tax cuts (once claimed by liberals that they only helped the wealthy) were maintained, the payroll tax cuts were allowed to expire. That means 77% of Americans will see their take home pay reduced by an average of $1635 in 2013.

Imagine, more revenue for the government with no cut back on their spending. You guys just gave a shopoholic another credit card. Congrats! When the American people are taking it in the keester even worse at year end, we'll see if you guys are as happy with yourselves then. Probably so, since Obama will tell you it was the Republicans fault. I have a hint for you, no matter how many times he tells you he won't cum in your mouth, he will.

Let's compare the "Shopholics".

Obama - Saving the auto industry, investing in new energy technology and saving the economy.Bush - Starting 2 wars, spending on multiple exotic weapons systems and creating unfunded entitlements that benefit drug companies.

I think most went for Obama, because Bush Redux Romney..lost big.

The auto industry is on our dime dumbshit. The smart call would have been to let them go thru bankruptcy and rebuild leaner and meaner. The auto bailout was saving the union, not the industry. How much ROI has Obama gotten for his "investment" in new energy technology? That's right, none. Money wasted. Saving the economy? He just taxed 77% of Americans while telling them he wasn't going to increase their taxes while increasing the debt another $4T on top of the current $16T. Saved the economy indeed. Like I said, let's take a look in a year and see where we are. With taxes going up and government spending increasing at a record pace, I don't think it is going to be the utopia you are expecting. Time will tell.

You pack alot of vitriol in that post..

Let's unpack it a bit. The Unions took a hair cut as part of the deal, number one, and it did save the industry number two. They would not have "rebuilt" leaner and meaner, they would have collapsed. We would have lost GM for sure and quite possibly Ford. There are huge dependencies between auto makers. Additionally GM builds vehicles for the government. It's a huge asset. Letting that go down would have been an amazingly and astonishingly stupid move.

New energy technology is still in the research phase. Being that this country hasn't really done anything new in quite some time, it's hard for folks who are short sighted to see that. We still burn things to make other things turn..that's pretty primitive given the potential to come up with something new. During the Industrial Revolution, all sorts of things were invented. It was amazing. In a little under a century the very fabric of society was changed by new technology. Now? We just keep regurgitating the same thing over and over again. It's amazing. You folks have no trouble whatsoever spending 300 billion on the Joint Strike Fighter, a plane that wasn't needed and never materialized, but go absolutely nuts over a 250 million dollar investment in new energy.

Really something else.

It's nice to see the GOP (or at least enough of them) finally fearing and serving the middle class. Jesus. How long has it been? 30 years?

What will we hear?

Quite possibly what we heard the last time Republicans ruled the roost at the end of a Democratic administration.

"The government has to much money".

Then, they promptly spent the surplus.

How'd that work out?

so, serving the middle class is raising taxes on people, not passing a budget in four years, bowing down to a thug President?

There will be no spending cuts but O will go down in history as the largest spender in all of history. He's already made Bush look like the stingiest mofo that ever lived.

Now all we need is 6 trillion in "stimulus" for green energy, infrastructure, and public service welfare jobs...........Lol

Bush was "stingy" in that he didn't actually pay for all the stuff he was buying.

Getting rid of paygo was a colossal demonstration of just how exactly conservatives do business.

Cut...Spend..and leave someone else with the check.

Boy the Right is stupid, and obviously ignorant of what drives spending that increases more rapidly than inflation and population increase.

So time for a primmer:

Spending goes up organically. Imagine a Social Security card, then when paper and printing prices increase, along with the need for more to be printed. Cost rises.

So, as a rule, 3 or so percent annually is to be expected, if no new pork or spending programs are added. But once they are, they keep on keeping on until Congress de-appropriates them. Bush 43 creates Medicare Part D, with a nice piece of Big Pharma lobbyist payback in the form of guarantees that market forces of supply and demand will not affect their higher prices to Americans than any other citizens on planet Earth. And until Congress eleminates it, it's in the cost of the Executive's spending requirement. Ditto on wars started because Neo Cons thought Bush 41 stopped short of total victory in Desert Storm. Also, Home Land Security which still needs funding as long as Congress continues to appropriate 10s of Billions we know about and untold other monies which are classified.

And to see the effect, merely track percentage increases from year-to-year:

Clinton: about 4% annually
Bush 43: about 8% annually
Obama: about 2% annually (actually a cut, since it's less due to inflation and population)

So if you think Bush 43 was miserly, you're fucking clueless.

Sure it is.

Most of that spending came from the Bush administration.

Most people in the reality based community realize Bush added 4 trillion to the debt and Obama added 1 trillion.

4 is greater than 1.

My math is fine.

Were you angry at Reagan for ballooning the debt or at Bush for spending the budget surpluses Clinton left him?

Yes, compared to O, Bush was a spendthrift. That hurts to say that but....you were saying.....something about the left being stupid?

I suppose you all think it's a good thing to kick the can down the road further ignoring the problem and ensuring this turns into a double dip recession. I can't really agree that this is good. Expected, but not really good.
