Ok it seems like everyone has their own pet definitions of what should be basic political labels so I thought we could try to get the records straight and get a consensus for some of these terms. Just tell us the definitions you use.

    Liberal

    Progressive

    Leftist

    Centrist

    Rightist

    Conservative

    Libertarian

    Socialism

    Communism

    Fascism

    Ok so go.

The terms "liberal " and "democrat" are mutually exclusive.

Dems can take whatever position they want but what's liberal should remain the same (that is if the definition is consistent).

I wouldn't call the Patriot Act liberal, and yet Obama still supports it.
