The uninsured

I'm on Medicare and Medicaid ... I earn only $700 a month average ... don't even pay taxes because I am still under the poverty level. Anyone who is uninsured is just too damned lazy to fill out paperwork or too greedy to pay the small premium.

Or is above the threshold to receive benefits.
The guy next door to me has a small lawncare business and a wife and three kids. He barely makes enough to pay his rent, utilities and food. He is able to afford a small healthcare policy with high premiums, copays and only pays a small percentage of his bills. He must avoid doctors visits and elective care because it will come out of pocket.

The US is the richest country in the world. We can do a better job of taking care of our people

Really? He "owns his own lawncare business"? That's usually code for "he mows people's lawns" ... which isn't a profitable venture. Medicaid is based on income verses needed expenses, so are food stamps. If he is really struggling and doesn't get those, he's lazy as hell.

Doesn't seem lazy to me. He leaves at sunrise and doesn't get home until after dark. Yes, lawncare business means he cuts peoples lawns. Is that demeaning to you? People who do menial tasks aren't entitled to healthcare?

No, but if he wasn't lazy he'd be signed up for the programs that are available. It's pretty simple, you go in, get some applications, fill them out, hand them in, get an appointment ... tada! Unless you make enough to live on, you get food stamps and Medicaid.

People like that think we are rich because we keep borrowing more money ... they easily forget that it's not our money we are spending.

You don't know if he's out mowing lawns are sitting in the local bar, all you know is he leaves in the morning comes home in the evening.

I do have to mention that mowing lawns can be a lucrative business. A friend of mine has done extremely well in that area.

I've seen some people work their way out of the shelters mowing lawns, or even washing windows. As long as a person is not lazy, any job can prove profitable and anyone can get out of a tough situation, they just can't be lazy.

I agree 100%!!

The subject matter on this thread is just more proof about how the liberal mind is unable to think at all on the margin.
Painting it with the broad stroke as always, these people automatically assume that there are not tradeoffs for the people who already HAVE insurance. They automatically assume that the wealthy can pay for ALL of EVERYBODYS health insurance resulting in a high level of quality care for EVERYBODY.

Now of course, for those of us with the ability to think on the margin, it is as plain as the nose on your face that the liberal thinking is nothing short of space land. In fact, its beyond k00k. But see.........that doesnt matter to the liberal!! Why? Becuase their primary focus isnt at all making sure everybody has health care............its is to make sure that the successsful people get fcukked with the big one!! THAT is the primary goal...........the results DONT MATTER ONE IOTA!!

It matters not to the k00k that my parents who are in their late 70's end up getting the shaft with this public option........because bureaucrats will determine for them what is necessary and what is not ( its right on page 423 of the boll). It matters not to the k00ks that the poor souls who is diagnosed with cancer at stage 3 might have stood a chance if the evaluation could have identified the cancer three months earlier.............but couldnt due to waiting for a needed procedure due to bureaucratic proicess and bs inefficiency. It matters not to the k0ooks that folks with severe autism will thus be deprived new and innovative medicines because the Obama plan will so rack the big drug companies with taxes ( to pay for their plan of course) that there will be no new miracle drug innovation because there will be zero incentive for drug companies to make new medicines that have the potential to provide these autistic folks with a life of not hittng themselves 5,000 times a month in the face. Nope........the drug companies will stick with the old drugs. The lefty k00ks dont give a sh!t about people with autism.........oh..........but they'll be more than happy to sacrafice them to shaft the rich guy who is successful.

Completely enamoured with the virtue of their good intentions, the k00k liberals have no clue about how their idealistic visions screw an entire segment of the population.

A huge segment of the uninsured could indeed get insurance through their employer if they could just buckle up their chinstrap like the rest of us and get a damn job..........but wont because its far easier to get the government to pay for everyfcukkingthing in their lives.

And how ironic.............the current adminstration is on a mission to destroy small business in America, going down the path of zero growth economic principles that sustain high levels of unemployment.

Socialism is a joke.............its a fatally flawed system of government that takes away as much as it gives. And all who live under its domain lose their liberty in the process. Only the k00k could embrace that..............:clap2:

BONK !!

When the MIC can keep us in two expensive wars, CEOs can receive $Millions in bonuses, lobbyists can spend a $Million per day on Congressmen, I think we can spend money on healthcare for the poor. We have just lived thru eight years of intensive spending by republican oinkers...pork ! pork ! Year 2005 was a history-making year for republican frenzied feeding at the trough of taxpayers funds including 'The Bridge to Nowhere' which finally brought outcries of rage from the American population.

We can spend to bring some alleviation to the poor families so that they may retain their health and I believe the government owes them that. As a taxpayer, I don't mind giving my tax money to rehabilitate the poor so they may live longer and healthier lives. What I DO mind, is to have my taxes go to the huge war machine that is intent on killing our brave men and women and innocent civilians in war torn countries.

An excellent healthcare plan for every American citizen is inherent in the Democratic process....not just for Congressmen and government workers (paid for by the taxpayers) ....but for every American. If it is good enough for Congress, it should be good enough for the taxpayer !!

You complain about all the money that the Republicans spent in the last 8 years, yet you say nothing at all about the money Obama has spent since taking over the office of the President? Why is that? Don't you know that he has already spent more money than all the other Presidents combined since the days of George Washington? Why isn't this alarming to you? You can't say this was Bush's fault because Obama did it. It doesn't matter what our lame Congress has spent money on. It still doesn't make it Constitutional for them to pass Universal Health Care in this country or provide a Public Option to people who wish to buy insurance from the government. Don't you get it? It isn't the role of government. Yes, those Congressmen have a sweet insurance deal and perks going on in Congress. They also get retirement for life after serving just one four year term in Congress. Why aren't people making noise about this? Quit whinning and wanting the government to give you something for free. Can't you manage your own life?

I figured you did. It's the people who think that we need more regulation and more government tax money funded programs that need to learn that. Regulations are what's slowing some people down, I know, I bumped heads with them already and it's why I only allow myself to earn half of the poverty level so I don't have to deal with them at all. As for the government programs, they already exist and have done okay, though they waste a lot of money on people who don't really need them, that's the only problem we need to fix. Stop funding criminal activity (our state people convicted or a felony have to be involved in rehabilitation to get benefits now), that include illegal aliens, and start requiring people to try. The education programs were all shut down because they can't afford them.

The reason I don't know that Obama has spent more money than all the other Presidents combined is because it is not true.

Obama has spent $800 billion. Bush spent $5 Trillion and DOUBLED our national debt. (Ron Reagan by the way, TRIPLED the national debt) Obama spent his money in trying to prevent the banks and auto companies from failing and to provide economic stimulus to an economy on the verge of collapsing.
Bush spent $5 Trillion to provide tax cuts to the wealthy (which resulted in jobs being sent overseas) and engage in two unnecessary wars.
