Turkey was more or less with US until they shot down the Russian plane (at least so it seemed), then there was an unknown phonecall between Putin and Erdogan.

They suddenly got on a lot better. One very likely cause could be a deal regarding the Kurds. The Turkish government don't like the Kurds. As for the reasons between all the fighting, see it elsewhere, here I'm interested in the plans of Turkey regarding Russia.

Somehow it has come down in Syria to that the Kurds are helping the US. And while Turkey was, at least, on the side of US, they don't want the Kurds to win in this war.

Because there has been speculation about dividing Syria into three or four parts in which Putin has speculated the Kurds could have their own state. Of course Putin is a racist as all Narcissists are so he doesn't personally care but it's a cheap way of pretending to care.

The Kurds fight with the US, or are at least somehow supported by US, but because the US does not regard them as terrorists Turkey is constantly arguing about it with US. Also the Kurds may gain weapons out of it. But if Russia is so bold as to defend - even pretentiously - the Kurds, why is Turkey so annoyed with US instead. Or is it just because US is supposed to be their ally?
