The Truth About TSA Pornoscanners

When people go through those scanners, they don't look like Playboy centerfolds or Scott Brown behind a staple. They look creased and monochrome.

It's truly amazing that Republcians would block something like this. Where are their priorities? They are more afraid of being "seen" and "peeked at" than of dying from a terrorist plot. No wonder the gays freak them out. They might "peek" too.

No wonder they are terrified of "big government" because they might "peek" too.

What are these fools so afraid of? What is it they think they have to "hide"?

Well, one thing we've learned from this thread is that the far left and the far right can both agree on being a bunch of authoritarians.

This is not a republican Democrat thing. Unless of course you are calling me a Democrat...And them's fightin words.

And here i thought that security against terrorism during a time of war against terrorism. And since we've just had an Airliner nearly blown up it sort of brings home the point that security on aircraft is kind of necessary in todays world. Unless of course you don't mind planes flying into buildings.

Again, another straw man. You're avoiding the actual topic here. Nobody is arguing against security, we're arguing against the nudie machines which as pointed out ad nauseum would not have stopped that airliner from nearly being blown up on Christmas. That was a failure of communications between international intelligence organizations. He was on the watch list and they let him on anyway.

I have more time in the air than I care to think about. When I last returned from Europe my wife and I decided that we would probably never leave the USA again. We drive everywhere. Why? Because we can.

I fly all the time for my job and I'm not paranoid about my plane being blown up.

Not one bit paranoid, But after 22 years of flying around the world we will now take our time and see the USA.
See the USA in your Chevrolet...I can just about see Doris Day in a bell-bottom dress, singing and smiling as she points to a '58 Impala convertible.

And they are probably laughing it up right now. WE need to know who is headed for our shores. If WE say he can't get on the plane and come here then WE have the control. As to the Christmas day bomber there WAS intel that would have stopped him. WE ignored it.

Knowing who is flying is the best tact we can take. Yes, I know how many thousands fly every day. But we have computers who have booked them in, it would take only a little more to check them all out.

Laughing it up? I doubt it.

We knew the guy was flying. The last admin gave him a Visa to come here. The mistake was one security dept not communicating with the others.

The info is there... it needs to be coordinated. same thing happened in 2001

My point exactly. The info IS there on everyone who soars into the friendly skies. There are databases that have more information on us than we have on ourselves. There is no reason why that technology can't be put to good use.

As to laughing it up... yeah, given the sentiment of the world at large toward the US, they are probably ejoying a good laugh about now.

It's so hard to follow conservative logic.

If the "pantie bomber" had gone though one of those machines, he most certainly would have been stopped. It only takes two words, "What's that?"

That's about it, but we usually take the ford Mini-van.

Oh?

Are planned airport scanners just a scam? - Home News, UK - The Independent

So you are claiming that we are totally defenseless against this type of attack. If you are right then there are hundreds of terrorists creaming their jeans about now.

No, I actually said earlier what we need to do.

Not in this thread you haven't. You made some pretty lame claims, like they didn't have boxcutters, so I wonder how do you stab someone with a bomb? At any rate If these scanners do not work then the only thing we have left is strip searches and body cavity searches. How's that for your right of privacy?

Glad I don't have to fly any more......

On what do you base your statement that they are not effective? And dogs are one of the easiest to fool. Ask any druggie.

Scanners would not have stopped 9-11 OR the Christmas day bomber.

Name me a leader who has a better idea for homeland security than making us take off our shoes in airports and throw away our shampoo. -Lee Iacocca

Scanners wouldn't have picked up box cutters? Really? We don't even know for certain how they got them through the security that we did have. I'm not an expert but Scanners are the next best thing we've got to a full body cavity search.
it wasnt against the rules to have box cutters prior to 9/11
in fact the very first time i flew, i had a buck 110 on my belt and had no problems in security
and that was in 1987

I watched the video and the scanner they used really really sucked. I looked at the other images available around the web, and big fucking deal.

Again get scanned or ride a bike.

Scanners are not effective. AND they are an invasion of privacy. The best thing to catch someone with the makings of a bomb is very low tech...a bomb sniffing dog.

I fly a fair amount, and airport security is a joke. I am a little fat redhead soon to be granny. I get patted down EVERY time I fly because I have a knee replacement. Show the card? Ohhellno, does no good whatsoever. I stand there getting shaken down while middle eastern thug types board the plane untouched.

If you want to see a REALLY big joke of an airport go to JFK in NY. I don't know how that place is still standing.

A tremendous amount of inconvenience is being imposed upon us so the bastards can continue fucking around in the internal affairs of other nations.

.

Looks to me like folks really need to decide whether to criticize the Obama administration for allowing the underwear bomber to get through, or whether to criticize him for being to thorough in examining passengers.

LOL.

You're all scared to death of terrorists, but refuse to do what is necessary to stop them, because God forbid someone might see how tiny your penises are.
