Now we ALL know it's not about the kids. Now we all know it's about POWER. They have admitted it. We've all seen the video. The union dweebs want to take this debate down a rabbit trail of "for the kids"......."anti American worker"......"Tea Party is racist"......blah, blah, blah. The fact is this is nothing more than a taxpayer revolt. No more. Americans are losing jobs, homes, savings, etc, etc. The President said we ALL had to sacrifice. None of you union dweebs are better than anyone else.

    Indeed. To quote Heinlein:

Political tags — such as royalist, communist, democrat, populist, fascist, liberal, conservative, and so forth — are never basic criteria. The human race divides politically into those who want people to be controlled and those who have no such desire. The former are idealists acting from highest motives for the greatest good of the greatest number. The latter are surly curmudgeons, suspicious and lacking in altruism. But they are more comfortable neighbors than the other sort.

Quote by Robert A. Heinlein: "Political tags

Those of us who are Surly Curmudgeons are actually in the majority, but we're not very organized as we do not tend to travel in packs. But the times they be achangin'.....

Well put together article...rep on the way.

    My fav part:
"Plato said that, "One of the penalties of not participating in politics is that you will be governed by your inferiors." In this case, it means one day losing our freedom to unelected power brokers, going through the empty motions of democracy..."

My only objection is to lay the blame on the municipal workers who accept what is offered to them...it is the pols who offered the 'bribe' who should be pilloried.

But the essences of the above quote is correct: if we don't pay attention, this is what we get.

Talmon framed a similar idea about the "empty motions of democracy" in his thesis called "Totalitarian Democracy."

The latest variation of totalitarianism is neither religious, nor even political: it is cultural. “Totalitarian democracy” is a term made famous by J. L. Talmon to refer to a system of government in which lawfully elected representatives maintain the integrity of a nation state whose citizens, while granted the right to vote, have little or no participation in the decision-making process of the government.

Thankfully, the perfect storm of economic tribulation, and President Obama, who revealed what kind of results we can expect from left wing governance....

this was necessary for folks who don't believe "WET PAINT" signs and have to touch the bench to experience the result for themselves.

I notice nobody countering this. Funny when the truth can't be denied because of one of the idiots getting caught on tape admitting what we know.
