Egypt's Islamist president-elect, Mohamed Morsi, wants to "reconsider" the peace deal with Israel and build ties with Iran to "create a strategic balance" in the Middle East, according to an interview published by Iran's Fars news agency on Monday.

The stated goals are certain to alarm Israel and its ally the United States as they adapt to the new direction Egypt will chart with Morsi at the helm.

They could also boost Iran's influence in the Middle East at a time of heightened tensions between Tehran and the West.

"We will reconsider the Camp David Accord" that, in 1979, forged a peace between Egypt and Israel that has held for more than three decades, Morsi was quoted as telling a Fars reporter in Cairo on Sunday, just before his election triumph was announced.

He said the issue of Palestinian refugees returning to homes their families abandoned in the 1948 Arab-Israeli war and the 1967 Six-Day War "is very important".

Morsi added though that "all these issues will be carried out through cabinet and governmental bodies because I will not take any decision on my own."

Morsi also said he was ready to improve ties with Iran. The Islamic republic broke off diplomatic relations with Egypt in 1980, a year after Cairo signed the peace deal with the Jewish state.

"Part of my agenda is the development of ties between Iran and Egypt that will create a strategic balance in the region," Morsi was quoted as saying.

Of course we need to remember that nobody in Egypt mentioned starting a war with Israel.

Another Islamist who promised things he didn't deliver on and is trying to solidfy Islams position in a non islmaic state.

Only proving, once again, that Israel should be extremely careful about trusting the words and commitments of their "peaceful" Arab & Egyptian neighbors.

It's pretty pathetic how the racist wannabe-destroyers of Israel keep clutching at new straws to keep their perverted dream alive.

It is Israel's perverted dream of Eretz Israel that is cause a Holy War with them...they were never satisfied with what the world via the UN had given them, a safe haven for the past sins of humanity towards them...

Greed is undoing all the goodwill showered on her at her creation...Now it is begining to pay the piper as the middle east is given back to the People by the Western Lackeys which were bribed with the American/Israeli collussion of Power and Money!

This war is not over.

Israeli Authorities Breach Last Month’s Prisoner Agreement
After undergoing 71 days without food, Palestinian prisoner Hasan Safadi is back on hunger strike protesting the renewal of his administrative detention, a breach of the agreement signed between the Israeli authorities and the Palestinian prisoners’ committee on May 14. Safadi’s administrative detention order was renewed Thursday 21 June 2012 for an additional six months.

Last month’s agreement put an end to the 28-day long mass hunger strike of approximately 2,000 Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails. In return for ending their strike, Israeli authorities promised the higher Palestinian hunger strike committee that they would curtail their rampant use of administrative detention, although nothing was offered in writing.

Palestinian human right group Addameer stated on Thursday that by renewing Safadi’s administrative detention order, Israel has broken the May 14th agreement it struck with the Palestinian prisoners’ committee.
