1.Partners can work together, yet still have differences. So was it with the two powers that produced the greatest human environment ever to form on this planet, Western Civilization. Western civilization was built on two ideas:
God created every human in His image
......and human beings are able to investigate and make rational conclusions about the world.

These two ideas were born in Jerusalem and Athens, respectively.

2. While the two cultures each added to our greatness, Judaic spiritual revelation, and Greek reasoning, in some ways they were irreconcilable. Each understood the nature of God very differently.

“Where Judaism posited an active God in the universe, Greek thought posited an Unmoved Mover largely unconcerned with human affairs. ‘The changeless, Unmoved Mover was the God of Plato and Aristotle,’….Judaism believed, as Greek thought did, in a God who stood behind creation; but unlike Greek reason, Judaism also saw God’s presence in human events,….God was intimately involved, in this view, with man’s actions.” Ben Shapiro, “The Right Side Of History,” p. 55-56

3. We can see the two views incorporated from the very start of America’s creation. Our Founders were steeped in the classics…..in fact, education usually required Latin before it slipped to the current level….but chose religion, the Bible, the Judeo-Christian faith, as their primary influence. These first Americans saw our break with the King as the Jews escaping the Pharaoh.

“…the influence of the Exodus story on the ethos of the American Revolution. So powerful was this influence in 1776 that Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams suggested that the Great Seal of the United States should include an image of Moses leading the Israelites through the Red Sea. A different committee subsequently chose another image--a pyramid!” The Great Seal of the United States

4. And our Founders continued the choice of Jerusalem over Athens in their views of God. While secularists claim the latter, i.e., that the Founders were Deists, they were not. The truth about American's founders is...all of whom, even if some did not individually adhere to orthodox Christianity, were steeped in the Judeo-Christian tradition.

The Greek view was what we call ‘Deism.’
de•ism
noun
belief in the existence of a supreme being, specifically of a creator who does not intervene in the universe. The term is used chiefly of an intellectual movement of the 17th and 18th centuries that accepted the existence of a creator on the basis of reason but rejected belief in a supernatural deity who interacts with humankind. Google

The notion that any of the Founders believed in an impersonal deity who merely created the universe and then left it to itself is false. All of them believed in a God who, as Franklin said at the Constitutional Convention, “governs in the affairs of men.”

Here’s what we can say for certain about their religious beliefs.

a) All of the Founders believed in a transcendent God, that is, a Creator who exists outside of nature.
b) All the Founders believed in a God who imposes moral obligations on human beings
c) All the Founders believed in a God who punishes bad behavior and rewards good behavior in an afterlife."

Clearly, that is siding with Jerusalem over Athens.

Jerusalem is the home of the imaginary gods of the Christians..and the Jews and the Muslims and who know how many more fantasies about invisible beings that have zero power on Earth yet rule the cosmos....And every damn one of them is the same.

The Founders were never slaves although they owned slaves yet the Hebrews were slaves.. So where is the correlation to causation through example for that issue?

Here Polislick is posting on the Sabbath breaking the rules that no labor is to be performed upon the Sabbath and she is supposed to be posting prayers and worshipping her gods.
Why have you forsaken your gods Polislick?

5. Numerous events subsequent to the founding can be seen as the Hand of God, Providence, Nature’s God, the Divine….all terms used in the Declaration of Independence…..in our American journey.

Having lost the Battle of Long Island, Washington tried to escape across NY harbor…the huge British fleet anchored there, and the British army of 10,000 facing their lines on Brooklyn … mere darkness would not have protected them. Help came when a sudden unexpected and unprecedented dense fog settled over the East River, miraculously shielding the troops in their small fleet of rickety craft from the ever-alert eyes of the nearby British fleet and the Redcoats ashore.

…Colonel Roosevelt ordered a charge and rushed in the lead towards the enemy position. Dodging enemy bullets, he leaped a barbed wire fence in his fearless assault, leading the rest of his Rough Riders and elements of the other cavalry regiments, Roosevelt again jumped over the barbed wire fence to attack and drive the Spanish from their positions.…Except for Colonel Roosevelt, all senior officers of the six cavalry regiments had been killed or wounded either in the charge or by the enemy fire directed on the hill after it was taken, leaving the Colonel in command of the survivors of all six regiments….by divine providence and in accordance with a divine plan.” http://www.homeofheroes.com/books/splendid_war_1.PDF

The hand of God was never more clear in our victory in the Cold War when a pope, a prime minister, and a president brought the mighty Soviet Empire to its knees without provoking a nuclear holocaust. http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2006/6/20/182052.shtml

I am so very pleased when you post, mud......you are so typical of the ignorant history-challenged Leftists.

The regimen that mandated the end of religion in Western civilization began two centuries ago.

‘The Enlightenment’…sounds like a blessing, sunlight into the dark. That’s probably the impression left by government schooling. Actually, the explosion of science, the sudden success in understanding of the world, led to many elites actually believing that only one of the two features that led to that point, reason, was necessary….and the other, religion, could be dispensed with.

They were wrong. Science can tell us what we can do, but, sans religion, not what we should do.

“The term Enlightenment suggests….that belief in Judeo-Christian values and God Himself was at best an obstruction to modern Western civilization.”
Ben Shapiro, “The Right Side Of History,” p.98

Herein the danger of eliminating the Judeo-Christian influence that were prominent in the creation of this nation.

Want to see the comparison between keeping both faith and reason, and basing the revolution only on reason? That would be the American Revolution vs the French version.
In the course of France's short revolution, 600,000 French citizens were killed, and another 145,000 fled the country.
Schom, "Napoleon Bonaparte," p. 253.

"That's in a country with between 24 and 26 million people, about the current population of Texas. In terms of population loss, that would be the equivalent of the United States having a 9/11 attack every day for seven years."
Coulter, "Demonic," p. 266.

The American Revolution? About 1%-2% of that number.

There is no morality. No care or concern for other, or for life. Nor is any required. This is the gift of the Enlightenment, with its view to replacing religion with science, with reason.

BTW, the Russian Revolution was an extension of the French one, and ultimately cost over 100 million human lives.
Even in the 19th century, as religious conviction waned, the warnings were there. Ivan Karamazov, in “The Brothers Karamazov,” exclaimed ‘if God does not exist, then everything is permitted.’

Mass murder included.

"We must rid ourselves once and for all of the Quaker-Papist babble about the sanctity of human life." Leon Trotsky

This is why the major political party, the Democrat, can endorse infanticide and racism, and still be considered a choice for governing.

Write soon, mud, so I can smash another custard pie in your ugly kisser.

6. Blessing is promised to those who bless Abraham and his descendants: “I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you” (Genesis 12:3). The Founders recognized this and believed it.

And, largely, it has come to pass.

But, contrary to the proclamation of Fukuyama, [The End of History and the Last Man is a 1992 book by Francis Fukuyama,] history has not ended. No, the conflicts between Western Civilization’s ‘parents,’ Athens and Jerusalem, continue.

Today we still see a battle between the obligations of the individual to the community, the Greek view, and the obligations of the individual to morality.

“The two notions came into direct conflict in 167 BCE, when the Greek king Antiochus IV attempted to defile the Jewish Temple on behalf of the Greek religion and banned many Jewish practices….saw traditional Judaism as an obstacle to assimilation. The Maccabees rose up in revolt,….that uprising is commemorated by Jews to this day in the form of Hanukkah.”
Ben Shapiro, “The Right Side Of History,” p. 57

It's time to remove the pagan Democrat Party, which stands for this:
“…State Representative John Rogers, a Democrat from Birmingham, posted a video on Twitter defending a woman’s “right” to kill her pre-born baby with the argument: “So you kill them now or you kill them later. You bring them in the world unwanted, unloved, you send them to the electric chair.”
Alabama Lawmaker Facing Heat for “Kill Them Now, or You Kill Them Later” Comments on Abortion

Democrats, no different from their ‘godfathers’…."We must rid ourselves once and for all of the Quaker-Papist babble about the sanctity of human life."
Leon Trotsky

7. Christianity is the merging of Jewish thought and Greek thought, of Jerusalem and Athens.

On the one hand, Christianity was far more Jewish than Greek, in the vision of God, and of man’s role. But is took on the Greek universality: “The Gospels were written in Greek, not the Aramaic….Jesus’s story was meant to extend to the entire world. Because Jesus was no longer a Jewish figure…but the material incarnation of the divine, that meant that Jewish law could be abandoned in favor of universalism.” Ben Shapiro, “The Right Side Of History,” p. 58

8. “4 Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
Romans 10:4-13

All have access to God, hence broadening the message of Judaism to all, not just to Jews.

9. Two dramatic alterations catapulted Christianity into prominence and prevented it from being a threat to potentates.

In place of the many rules and requirements of Judaism, the new synthesis of Jerusalem and Athens replaced them with faith.

If one has faith, one is granted Heaven in the afterlife.

Whether it flowed from faith, or a sense of self-protection, Christianity posited a spiritual messiah, rather than the traditional Jewish expectation of a political messiah. That had been the reason why Judaism was a threat to any king or empire.

10. Christianity offered no threat to earthly kingdoms, as it saw itself as belonging to a spiritual world, not a temporal one. There was ‘the city or God,’ and ‘the city of man.’

“St. Augustine used an illustration of two cities in trying to explain the distinction between the Church and the world. Two loves have formed two cities, he claimed. The love of self has formed the earthly city; the love of God has formed the heavenly one. The earthly city is characterized by pride and self-aggrandizement while those in the heavenly city honor God in all things, trusting only Him for all wisdom and giving glory to only Him.” FEATURE | What Does the City of God Have to Do with the City of Man?

So, Christianity bridged both the Jewish and the Greek, and provided a profile that allowed it to move freely in the non-Jewish, and non-Christian world.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,”
Matthew 28:19

If you believe in Hebrew numerology, all good things come in threes, and the third leg is the Roman Empire. the spread of Christianity throughout the West so rapidly couldn't have happened without the Roman Empire's recent domination of the eastern Mediterranean. It didn't spread and become dominant east of the Decapolis cities. To some this might seem a contradiction, but to many historians it's 'serendipity' that it came along at just the right time and with the right message and was able to moderate the effects of hedonism and paganism enough to allow such advances in culture and science and legal systems across a wide region, even if not entirely successful at ridding the West of pagan idiocy, which still exists under the rubrick of 'constructive rationalism'; the neo-pagans still need mass human sacrifices and the like to feel 'validated', like abortion, or the Commies and other leftists always resorting to mass executions and fake 'famines' to to keep those uppity proles in their place. Their fellow pagans on the right wings also need famnes and executions like their fellow ideologues on the Left do; both need to get rid of those annoying Xians and their morals and valuing of human life above sociopathic compulsions. The Right wing sociopaths hide behind 'social Darwinism', which is a distinction without a difference from 'Marxism' and basing human life on pure 'economic usefulness' terms, for most people.

You chose unwisely and chose lies. Even the Greeks ended up choosing God, but it took awhile but not as long as evolutionary thinking.
