Not many, but it does mean that by 2032 the Republicans are likely to be going the way of the Whigs. Perhaps minorities may turn that around, but all indications are that the Republicans are slow learners when it comes to racial solidarity. Scratch one and they'll immediately start talking about the evils of multiculturalism, hardly endearing to the new largest minority.

Well, we know that Republicans do want to end Social Security and turn Medicare into a voucher program, which of course is not Medicare.
They have blocked health care for millions of Americans.
They did blackmail the president into extending the Bush Tax Cuts by threatening to block unemployment benefits for millions of Americans who lost their jobs from 2001 to 2008 because those jobs had been moved to China and over 40,000 factories were closed.
They did block this administration from investigating BP after the Gulf Oil Spill and voted against equal pay for equal work for women.
All of this has been documented and linked to hundreds of times so we know it's all true. So what's your point?

We no longer have a deliberative legislature, it is all political theater.

What we actually have is a nation and legislature that is evenly divided. Our founders could have made it easy to get things done but they elected not to on uber conservative theory that whatever govt does will probably be mistaken.

The problem with passing a budget was the devil was in the details, as was the case with most of the bills coming out of the H. of Rep.; many bills from the House include poison pills, amendments which no self respecting Democrat or Independent or moderate Republican could support.

Whereas you are correct in suggesting some members of Congress don't want to sign legislation with rediculous add-ons ... That doesn't excuse them from doing their jobs as required by law.

I would support a Balanced Budget Amendment requiring Congress to pass a balanced budget every two years. If Congress doesn't want to do their job ... Then suspend all Congressional payroll, services and pensions until they pass a balanced budget.

If they don't want to do their job ... Then we need to take away all their toys.
