Yeah, that's possible, I suppose.

Is it even more possible that two egos clashed in the night?

That one cop, who is used to people becoming compliant and obsequious, clashed with one academic, who is used to people being compliant and obsequious, met under circumstances where each felt offended by the other's lack of obsequious reactions?

Let's use our imaginations shall we?

A man broke into his own house and the cops were called by a neighbor.

The cops came in not knowing what was going on and acted like cops typically do.

They DEMANDED proof that the man standing in his own home was who he said he was.

That proof was provided, but done so by a professor who was unused to be spoken to harshly.

He responded (probably overreacting to the cop's tone of voice) arrogantly.

The cop took unbrage that the man wasn't passive and thankful. The cop probably wasn't polite

The professor took umbrage that the cop didn't immediately take his word for who he was. He was probably not polite.

The cop arrrested the professor.

The professor was outraged.

Two fucking hardons clash in the night.

Had the professor been a nobody we'd have never heard about it.

But the professor was a somebody.

Is it about race?

Certainly that might have been part of it.

But what it really was about was egos and expectations and arrogance and pride and how people react when confront with police power.

Jesus, I can't believe this event isn't obvious to each and every one of us.

Of course this hack, low life, was baiting the police, it worked, every American black person(approx. 10) I have talked to since, backs him up completely. A professor in African studies........ why doesn't he get his colored ass to Africa? Because that is what they would call him there, his light skin would give him away as not African, but a colored guy. I have spoken to 4 different Africans that I work with, none believe his fraud ass.

ultimately, they were both hotheads. BUT would you or I have been marched out of our own home in handcuffs AFTER the officer knew it was our home?

if the charges were legit, they wouldn't have dropped them.

It says in the police report that Crowley wrote himself....he asked mr gates for his identification, and mr gates replied back that he needed to see the Cop's identification and then Mr Gates handed him his university ID.

Where in the HELL, which is the home of deceivers, did you get that Crowley asked Gates 3 times for his id and he refused? SHEESH....

While I was lead to believe that Gates was lawfully in this residence, I was quite surprise and confused with the behavior he exhibited toward me. I asked Gates to provide me with identification so i could verify he lived at Ware Street and so that I could radio my findings in to ECC.

Gates initially refused, demanding that I show him identification, BUT THEN DID SUPPLY ME with a Harvard University identification card.

WHY DO CONSERVATIVES like you, HAVE TO LIE ABOUT THIS INCIDENT? Why can't you just debate it and discuss it with the facts that have been presented, instead of having to lie? I just don't understand you RGS..... (shakes head)

Maybe it is LAZINESS and refusing to read the police report that I POSTED FOR YOU EARLIER...maybe it is your PRECONCEIVED ideas on those involved in this case which blinds you from being truthful....?

I think all politicians are corrupt.

Not too sure whether Obama is a Marxist yet. Definitely a liberal..

As for the country going bankrupt - that might still happen - will be interesting to see. I believe the greed of capitalism will be found responsible if that does occur....(BTW, that doesn't mean socialism is the answer - a mixture of both is, IMO)

When there's an 'incident' it's best to do what the cops ask you, the first time they ask it. Lot of shit can be avoided by doing this.
