The Sissies won...

It was stupid of Bloomy to want to have that marathon in the first place. Each one of the generators brought in could have powered 400 homes and businesses. Bloomy brought in 200 porta potties to line the route, but New Yorkers are shitting in apartment house hallways. People will be handing out water bottles along the way, but those in Staten Island have only contaminated water.

Bloomy is the crown of selfishness that truly believes that when he is doing well, everyone else is too and if they aren't, they are happy to see him clean and fed.

City officials are huddling this evening to discuss either postponing the marathon or modifying the route, several sources told the Post.

Sources said the Road Runners were trying to decide whether to cancel the race completely this year or postpone it, probably for two weeks.

"They have insurance," said one source.

"They have to decide what happens with the insurance and what happens if half the people (runners) can't do it later."

The source said it was the mayor who made the call to cancel the race.

But racing officials didn't put up much of a fight.

"I think they understood," said the source. "They were reading the newspapers."

New York City Marathon will NOT run on Sunday, city decides after criticism - NYPOST.com

Bloomy was facing a wholesale rebellion. When he ordered the hotels to evict storm victims to house marathon visitors and the hotels refused, that was a shot across New York's bow. He could send in the police to jail hotel personnel and drag storm victims out of rooms, and have that as the image of Big Apple going around the world.

Good. The death toll is over a hundred. Marathon can come back next year when people are no longer suffering. It'd be like dancing on graves.

Yes, come next year no one will be suffering. The entire nation will be fixed, all of NYC will have homes, no one will go hungry, no one will get hurt....ah, utopia! You're only a year away!

:eusa_whistle:

will you be done whining by then?

:lmao:

Yes. We are weak, pathetic creatures that need help when faced with adversity. We are like cattle caught int he mud field.

Human beings have always required help from their fellow man all through the ages. Even before homo sapiens evolved, there were individuals who were found to have bones that were broken and healed. Impossible without help during adversity. If that's libertarian philosophy, you can count me WAY OUT.

The brave stalwart people of Manhattan would much rather have ignored those in Staten Island who are still dragging bodies out of wreckage.

No, definitely not liberal to support such a boldly retarded move over complaining.

almost 40 people died in staten island where the marithoners would have started their race.

they have no power.

they have no heat.

huge generators were set up in central park for the runners.

police who were needed elsewhere would have been diverted to the race route.

the last thing we needed was to have getting around made more unsafe and more difficult.

it isn't a "liberal" issue.

Every Tom, Dick and Jillian think they're now expert emergency response planners. :lmao:

Tools. You already won the complainer award. You got your way.

Thanks for the derp. I'd herp except I'm busy coordinating volunteers for tomorrow instead of arm chair QBin' "expert" city resources in disaster response. I'm sure you can find a way out there to tell others what is acceptable as charity and volunteer work.

Fucking LOLBerals. The plaque that wont rescind.

Wrong. Logistically driven REASON. Reality driven REASON. Priority driven REASON.

PEOPLE WHO LIVE THERE made the decision, so go please yourself, Dummy.

There was no "reason" to cancel it.

It wouild have been tough to do, no doubt..

But we New Yorkers are tough.

The Sissies did win.

But they definitely weren't all "liberal".

It was a kum bah ya..between Liberal sissies and Conservative sissies.

Tough to say for you that it's "tough to do" but the people who are logistically effected in those neighborhoods, you know as opposed to other New Yorkers who are emotionally effected and impressed by how TOUGH they would feel in carrying on, the locals were the ones who disagreed. So tough to consider THEM sissies over it? pffft

Those visitors need hotel rooms, but many of them already are occupied by New Yorkers displaced from their homes. Richard Nicotra, who owns the Hilton Garden Inn in Staten Island, has refused to throw out evacuees to honor reservations for marathon runners, according to NY1.

With power scarce, the three generators set up Friday to provide electricity to the marathon’s media tent in Central Park along the Upper West Side drew some attention.

The two active generators crank out 800 kilowatts of electricity, which would be enough to power 400 homes, the New York Post reported. The third unit, a backup, sits idle, in case one of others fails, the paper said.

Those generators should be powering some gas stations.

This is a serious situation, with winter just around the corner. Tens of thousands with houses not fit to be lived in. Many not getting food or water because of damage to roads, and the inevitable snafu's in a situation as big as this.

That athletic event should have been canceled the day before the storm. Right now the priotities should be the people that are suffering.

Not a 'liberal' issue, not a 'conservative' issue. An issue of human suffering in a huge disaster. Relief for the people that have had their live so damaged by this storm should take precedence above all else until the power is back on, and all have a warm, safe place to be.

yes, that's what a normal person would understand. and if one disagrees, it certainly doesn't make this pov "sissy".

well, except to nutbars.
