The IPCC consensus on climate change was phoney, says IPCC insider
The UNs Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change misled the press and public into believing that thousands of scientists backed its claims on manmade global warming, according to Mike Hulme, a prominent climate scientist and IPCC insider. The actual number of scientists who backed that claim was only a few dozen experts, he states in a paper for Progress in Physical Geography, co-authored with student Martin Mahony.
Claims such as 2,500 of the worlds leading scientists have reached a consensus that human activities are having a significant influence on the climate are disingenuous, the paper states unambiguously, adding that they rendered the IPCC vulnerable to outside criticism.
Hulme, Professor of Climate Change in the School of Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia the university of Climategate fame is the founding Director of the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and one of the UKs most prominent climate scientists. Among his many roles in the climate change establishment, Hulme was the IPCCs co-ordinating Lead Author for its chapter on Climate scenario development for its Third Assessment Report and a contributing author of several other chapters.

Let's see. All the Scientific Societies in the world, all the National Academies of Science, and all the major Universities agree that AGW is a fact, and a clear and present danger. But some nitwit on the internet says it is not so. So who to believe, such difficult decisions.

That humans are causing global warming is the position of the Academies of Science from 19 countries plus many scientific organizations that study climate science. More specifically, around 95% of active climate researchers actively publishing climate papers endorse the consensus position.
Inevitably, there will be scientists who are skeptical about man-made global warming. A survey of 3146 earth scientists asked the question "Do you think human activity is a significant contributing factor in changing mean global temperatures?" (Doran 2009). More than 90% of participants had Ph.D.s, and 7% had masters degrees. Overall, 82% of the scientists answered yes. However, what are most interesting are responses compared to the level of expertise in climate science. Of scientists who were non-climatologists and didn't publish research, 77% answered yes. In contrast, 97.5% of climatologists who actively publish research on climate change responded yes. As the level of active research and specialization in climate science increases, so does agreement that humans are significantly changing global temperatures.
