The senate is going back to the Dems. The current make up is 54-46. The Dems have 10 seats up and really only one vulnerable seat (Reid), while the Rep have 24 seats up. I see 3 seats as easy wins: Kirk in Il, Johnson in WI and Toomey in PA. CO in a presidential election sways left, so I see that open seat going blue and then I see Portman getting outed in OH. If the gov runs in NH that seat is lost also. 60 seats won't happen, but the majority will be blue.

When you can't tell the difference between Republicans and Democrats based on their actions, how can you say one party having more seats than the other is truly a 'loss'. For Conservatives, after Americans punished Liberals in historic record-setting fashion last November and the GOP immediately came into power and took up right where the Democrats left off - doing the same exact things, the Senate was lost THEN.

It is not the GOP's loss; however - It was America's loss. The majority of Americans made their voices clear by rejecting the Liberal agenda...and they were immediately ignored and given a double dose of it.

It ain't a 'party' thing...It's an 'America' thing!

The senate is lost anyway. With pinko jackoffs like McCain, Graham and Mcconnel why not just make it democrook officially?

Add in a Presidential election year without a strong Republican candidate and you will see the Senate go 54-46 Dems

Now THAT'S funny right there, I don't care who you are! I am not disagreeing with you, but by comparison the GOP is head and shoulders above what Liberals have to offer:

The candidates for the DNC are an old, criminal elitist liar staying 1 step ahead of going to jail, an admitted Socialist, and a VP known more for his gaffes than anything who hasn't even entered the race yet!

:lmao:

Republicans lack a strong candidate who can draw the funds and compete in swing states As much as you hate her...Hillary can do that

If Republicans believe their candidate does not stand a chance against Hillary, they will stay home.......hurting the Senate elections

1) It is more than a year out and there are something like 15 candidates still in the race, so the inability to raise money or not for 1 candidate yet has hardly been proven.

2) There is 1 candidate who does not need to raise money, at least not from Special interest groups etc...he's paying his own way.

3) We all KNOW Hillary can raise cash. She has sold 20% of the US supply of uranium to the Russians for cash, protected a foreign donor from punishment while he ran illegal contraband to the Iranians - violating US sanctions, she tried to sell several of the Aleutian Islands & their mineral rights to the Russians, tried to sell who knows what else to who knows who else, and has collected millions from foreign nations that oppress women, kill gays, have sex with little boys, and support terrorism....

It is still mind-numbing to me that despite all of this...not to mention her own war on women, un-trustworthiness, failures, deaths of Americans on her hands, the evidence that protecting her own arse is more important that truth/national security/etc....that ANYONE still supports this lying, self-serving, treasonous, criminal who is staying half a step ahead of going to jail!

I agree about IL and WI, but not sure PA will be a pushover, Toomey is actually a good campaigner and he appeals to the Philly suburbs by support gun control measures and other moderate policy stances. Also the Democrats don't really have a top tier candidate in PA like they do in IL and WI (Sestak is meh...)

Another seat that's probably more winnable would be the FL open seat, where Democrats actually have a fantastic candidate with Murphy, they just have to hope Grayson doesn't win the primary.

Also I'm kinda hoping Missouri will be a surprise due to Blunt being a subpar one-term Senator and the Dems having a candidate that has won statewide elections there (Kander).

Thank god!!!! More so if they're dumb enough to shut down the government = toast. We don't need people that don't want to govern in power.

I think your political thinking on the senate is well reasoned and very likely to occur.

I've read analysis that says it goes back to the GOP in 2018.

Not sure why.

It could

2012 was a Presidential election year and Dems picked up 2 seats in the Senate. Dems will defend more seats and it is an off election year that favors the Republicans

Off years are base elections. The presidential elections brings out all the non-whites, woman and people that care about our investments in the world.

off elections bring out the partisan hicks.

2016 is favorable to democrats but they cant afford any losses. 6 dem seats are up in red states. It could be tight.

Democrats face narrow path to retake Senate in 2016

What?

The ten 2016 Senate seats held by Democrats are Hawaii, Washington, Oregon, California (open), Nevada (open), Colorado, Maryland (open), New York, Connecticut, and Vermont. Only Nevada and Colorado are competitive and neither of them are "red states"

This is what happens when the republicans do absolutely nothing but hate Obama.

Right . Only a few Americans showed up in 2012 so republicans were able to take temporary control. Unfortunately, they are just a bunch of childish fools who are not qualified to do the job, so many more Americans will show up in 2016 and correct the travesty that happened in 2012.
