There is no question the selling of the war in Iraq within the American media is well documented. Now we learn that hundreds of millions of American dollars have been spent propagandizing within the country we supposedly entered expecting flowers, parades and everlasting love. Why would we need to spend a cent explaining our intentions to a people that we expected would greet us and defend us against the tyrants that have already been incarcerated and otherwise been tendered insignificant?

I smell politics for profit to the great expense of otherwise unsuspecting and undereducated and mostly underpaid Americans.

Don't you? Or, what do you think?

Don't insult me with your whining or name calling. You get it, just convince me so I can get it as well.

Just as I thought. You discombobulated right wingers have nothing to say. This thread has laid here for hours and you simply have nothing to say.

Ya know? You're pretty pathetic. Maybe it's just that nobody CARES if you get it or not? Mabye? Maybe it's just that EVERYONE who knows the 'truth' doesn't give two shits if YOUR mind is changed from the lies you buy into, or not.

    (shrug).

I honestly think this a waste of my time. Psycho obviously knows it's not the imprisoned tyrants who we are worried about. So that would make the entire post a worthless bit of deception.

And propagada? WHO CARES? Show me a war in which we DIDN'T use propaganda? The only one I can think of is Vietnam, when patriotism suddenly became verboten. That was also the war we lost, remember?

Oh and give me at least 24 hours to respond to anything before claiming I'm avoiding it. I know it's hard to beleive, but I do have other and more productive things to do than argue with you.

Im surprised anyone bothered responding. I mean the guy posts a message at 4am in the morning and then acts like everyone is afraid to respond to him since no one responded by 630am. Seriously, you act that disrespectful why the heck should I bother talking to you?

For the record, most normal people are asleep from the hours of 4am-630am.

As for you comment, your treachery knows no bounds does it? The reporting of good news in Iraq to the iraqi people about the building of schools, the building of power plants, the building of water treatment and sewage facilities is considered propaganda to you yet the filth we see everyday about our president lieing without any evidence to support their claims on CNN, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NYT, LAT, etc is all good journalism.

Sums up pretty well your objectives for this nation. Either you are actively working for the defeat and downfall of America or your just a useful idiot that buys into the whole "Bush lied" mantra that the communists and socialists put forth and hope sticks in the minds of morons such as yourself.

So far, there has been no evidence that any of the stories provided to the press was false.

Therefore, all this story is about is whether or not it is appropriate to try to get true positive stories about the good things that the coalition forces are accomplishing in Iraq and Afganistan into the newspapers that are circulating there...which, more often than not are filled with propaganda anyway...the only difference is...most of it is lies and distortions written specifically to make US troops look like murdering imperialist occupiers who should be killed.

Sorry...I have no problem with trying to combat the filthy lies that are showing up on Al-Jazeera and other news sources. Especially since, as someone else pointed out, propaganda has ALWAYS been a major aspect of EVERY war...the BIBLE demonstrates examples of propaganda for Christ's sake (pun intended)...

If paying a newspaper to print a true positive story about US troops helps the war effort and helps to save an actual human life, be it American OR Iraqi than more power to it.

The only thing I'm concerned about, truthfully...is how woefully pathetic our forces have gotten at being able to keep something secret.

Iraq is not the United States, psycho....they aren't quite at the point where you can make jokes about shooting the President of the United States on live radio and have nothing bad happen to you or create artwork displaying the religious icon of the vast majority of citizens in a bucket of urine and be proclaimed a famous artist rather than a dead man...

We are hopeful that one day they will embrace the concept of free speech and free press with the same zeal as we have...but right now it is a war zone...and the country is struggling to win that war against Islamic fundamentalists who, if successful, would probably ban free speech and expression altogether....a little perspective is in order in this situation...but you are too full of eagerness to bash Bush one more time to be able to handle that perspective.
