One could say yes

No doubt, if the Japanese, who culturally tended to be very submissive, started to fight back

Editec, I don't own a gun, but last month my puppy was out on our farm in an area where little froggies go, and apparently big snakes go after them. To make a long story short, she was bitten, and by the time she got to the house, we thought she'd been bitten by a wasp, and I thought little of it, until I was sitting at my computer, and i turned around. Miss Music was shaking horribly from her chest down. I thought that was pretty odd for a wasp sting, so the vet was called, symptoms described, and we drove 40 miles to a night veterinary hospital where the vet determined she'd been bitten by a big snake. I knew water moccasins had been spotted years before, because the former owner said he saw two in 7 years he lived here. The vet said that was consistent with her large bite, and her flesh was practically disintegrating in front of our eyes, massive weeping of lymph in the area of her bite, and horrid whitish bloody stuff all over the place the evening she was bitten.

I'm not sure she will avoid the area of where she was bitten in the future, but I think I am going to have to get a gun and clear out snakes. I don't want to do it, I hate killing, but after watching her still licking her wounds today, I don't know when she is going to heal that wound ocer, and it's been quite some time since her attack.

I'd like the freedom to still own a gun if I still feel this way in another week or so. I really do not care to have one, but duty calls when wild animals threaten your pets and/or livestock in the country.

I'm sorry stupid people get guns and use them on people or do not keep them in a safe place such that occasionally a young child gets it and shoots himself or another person while checking how the thing loads or works.
