The Santorum Strategy

The-sontaran-stratagem-title-card.jpg

wait... this isn't a Doctor Who discussion thread?

Never mind.

Santorum blew his chance last night in Michigan. If he couldn't beat Romney with all the liberals that showed up to vote for Santorum, he's dead meat. That means he would have absolutely positively no chance of winning Michigan, but last nights Michigan win for Romney has us liberals a little worried. How did he beat Santorum when the unions showed up to vote against him? Romney must have had a big turn out.

Or as I think, they stole it. I don't trust the GOP Governor Rick Snyder one bit. I think they gave it to Romney last night and if they will do that, may as well do it again in November. Who's in charge? Rick Snyder and a right wing radical Secretary of state pushing ALEC's agenda?

Come on America! Republicans are even cheating in their own primaries. So now not only do our liberal votes not matter, neither do conservative voters who don't want a mormon liberal representing them.

Frothy would have won Michigan...if he hadn't pissed off the Catholics 2 days before the Election. You don't crack on JFK in Michigan. Stupid move on his part. If he hadn't made his "throw up" comments about the JFK Separation speech, he'd be doing a victory lap around MI right now.

Santorum is a religious nut. Obama isn't...

Santorum believes in what most mainstream Christians believe.

Obama went to a Church where the pastor screamed "God Damn America".

Joe, you never struck me as the type to believe the hype about Reverend Wright. You do know that Reverend Wright was not "damning" America, but saying that god was damning America.

Funny that his words echo people like Pat Robertson who blame the wrath of god when disaster strikes. Which douche blamed Katrina on "they gheys", saying that god was damning America for its hedonistic tendencies?

Puhleese.

He's staking out the extreme right wing. By letting someone GO THIS FAR to the right, the conservatives will be able to then present us with Mitt, who is less so and therefore can APPEAL to independent voters.

Santorum's campaign is a joke, played on people too stupid to recognize what it is. A set up for Romney.

Ahhhhhh....but you forget. In September of 2008 McCain had pulled ahead of Obama and the gap was widening. It was looking like a sure-fire McCain victory. Liberal analysts around the nation were howling and having absolute hissy fits. Then the market crashed and it was game, set, and match for Obama. Had the market held off until after the election McCain would almost certainly have won that election.

You think so, even with Sarah? Ehhh, I don't so much. Plenty of conservative voters didn't like her at all.

People were struggling and not buying the "strength of the economy" long before the market crashed. Hell, I called the crash a good five years before it happened. Everything was in place for it.[/QUOTE]

Go look up the polls if you wish. I imagine Realclearpolitics has them on there somewhere. I think they have a historical record of polling. But yeah....somewhere around early September I believe McCain was starting to run away with it and it appeared to be all over. After the crash, which happened right before the election, the media did a great job blaming it all on Bush (even though he had nothing to do with it) and the people got so furious that the entire GOP got hammered as a result.

The idea that McCain lost because he was a moderate is a complete misunderstanding (or convenient re-write) of the way things went down.

Oh I think Santorum takes it a few steps beyond what most mainstream Christians believe Joe. I agree with you about the Obama part though.

Oh, I think that Wright and Robertson are cut from the same nasty Cloth. The people who think God is a Cosmic Hit Man.

Doesn't make what he said any less reprehensible.

When I was in College, one of the more obnoxious liberals put up a sign that said, "Church and State Shall not Mix"- to which I responded "I'll give up Falwell and Patterson if you Give up Jackson and Farakhan!" Liberals have no problem with whackadoodle clergy when they are spreading THEIR version of Christianity.

Wright is someone who plays on the resentment of poor people all day, and then goes back to his Gated Community in Tinley Park (which for those who don't live here, is a pretty nice, white Neighborhood where they wouldn't let me in the door) to his big mansion. And Patterson does the same to dumb white folks who live in trailer parks and proudly fly Confederate flags over them.

Now, I don't believe in God or any other Sky Pixie, but I find the notion of a God who was going to teach us a lesson by drowning innocent people or burning innocent people in an office building to teach other people the error of their ways isn't worthy of anyone's worship. And that he doesn't instantly fry any ""Reverand" who tries to pull that sort of crap is just proof of his "non-existence".

So..........you called the crash 5 years before it happened.

Did you forsee the recovery that's going on right now as well?

Nope. I didn't see the bail out either. I was hoping the whole shootin match would adjust to reality. I wanted the mighty to fall so that they wouldn't be in control anymore. So that their whole supply side theory would be exposed for the sham that it is.

It didn't. They weren't. It is.

I always said that those of us here at the bottom already know how to live through bad times. When the Great Depression came, it wasn't poor people jumping out of high rise office buildings. Some of them took advantage of the breakdown in the hierarchy to amass fortunes. In all honesty, I don't see that kind of opportunity presenting itself to ordinary working people until that kind of breakdown in the power structure occurs again.

Santorum is a religious nut. Obama isn't...

Yes he is. The religion of Socialistic superiority of the Academic over the common man.

You know who trashed academics? two examples:

Hitler, who didn't want people to think for themselves
and
Mao, who did poorly in school, was batshit crazy, and who didn't want people to know what to think, so they'd be too off balance TO think.

Congratulations, you're in fine company. :clap2:
