the law prescribes punishment or losing liberty or money
by being associated with that class.

If you believe it is wrong to discriminate against people
for being poor, which is not a crime, what makes it a
crime to be wealthy? Last I checked, crimes were defined
by laws as committing a wrong, abuse or violation that
deprives other people of their equal rights and protections.

Many wealthy people serve to help and protect the needy,
it is not a crime and govt cannot require you to religiously
give to charity which remains someone's free choice.
That's up to someone's religious beliefs or personal choice
and not something govt can regulate.

Penelope if you are going to require govt mandated
charity, that's like requiring everyone to be Christian
and help the poor. If you want to do that, to require
everyone to follow rules of charity, then all the other
rules and conditions that go with religiously required
service would also be included in the govt mandates.

Is that what you really want?

Govt to mandate, dictate and regulate religious charity
to help the poor? Because if you ask for that, you open
up the door for everyone to ask that their religious
requirements be met also, including Christians.

If you want everyone to have access to Christian
charity and services, then whatever rules and conditions
go with those programs, the recipients should have to comply with.

And if you want to dictate your OWN rules and conditions,
then YOU should fund that yourself so you can attach
whatever terms on giving to recipients you believe in as well!

You cannot have it both ways, Penelope.

You cannot both require other people to FUND your mandates
AND DICTATE for them the terms.

You would not want Christians imposing their religious beliefs
and requirements and force YOU BY LAW to fund THEIR
religious programs and policies with YOUR taxes and income from your labor.

What makes you think other people would ever agree to violate
their own religious freedom and rights, by having you dictate your
moral codes and beliefs and require THEM to pay for YOUR beliefs

"We BELIEVE that health care is a right not a privilege"

Thus that is a political BELIEF.

So that is a political BELIEF.

In matters of personal beliefs, especially religiously held,
the First Amendment makes it clear that federal govt
cannot establish or prohibit the free exercise of religion.
And the Fourteenth Amendment extended the protection
of the laws to all persons under STATE jurisdiction as well,
not just federal. While the Civil Rights act expanded these
rights to PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS, in addition to State and Federal Govt.

Under Civil Rights laws there are policies against
DISCRIMINATION by CREED.

1. There are other ways to keep guns from mentally or criminally ill without overreaching by govt to regulate all other law abiding citizens.

2. by Natural Laws given by God/Nature,
the LAWFUL use of guns is to DEFEND the laws
while the ABUSE of guns is to VIOLATE laws.

By nature, man has free will to do both right and wrong.
We have equal ability to use guns for defense as to abuse them for crime.
We have equal ability to use Government and military force for good will and justice
as to abuse Govt and military power for ill will and injustice, as Terrorists do.

The same God or nature that gives us laws of science
gives us freedom to use our ability to study and reason
to understand the laws of science, even making mistakes.
