This is a modernism vignette inspired by the espionage-film GoldenEye.

The secret American paramilitary crusaders known as 'G.I. Joes' were contending with the super-terrorist organization known as 'Cobra.' However, the Joe-Cobra war was over and the threat of chemical weapons had subsided, and Joes and Cobras were now retiring under the patronage of U.S. President Donald Trump. The Joe ninja-warrior Snake-Eyes even married the Cobra female eco-terrorist Poison Ivy. Everything was alright, until Joe leader Duke got a call from the NSA telling him that the Seattle Space-Needle was being threatened by ISIS and rogue Cobra agents might be involved. Duke ordered Joes and newfound Cobra ally-agents to storm the Space-Needle. However, when the forces arrived in Seattle, they were greeted by a mysterious stranger named the 'Saint.'
The Saint explained that the NSA ordered the Joes and Cobra ally-agents to arrive in Seattle as a mere cover so that no one would suspect that the U.S. government was mobilizing forces to deal with this new terrorist threat on the Seattle Space-Needle. Duke wondered why he had never heard of the Saint, and then Snake-Eyes explained that the Saint was his estranged son (Ephram Daniels) who had turned into a vigilante and secret-operative for the NSA without the knowledge of the Joes. The Saint was planning a major international operation involving the eradication of cyber-terrorism, biological weapons distribution in the black market, and the stabilization of architecturally-symbolic sites across America (such as the Space-Needle!). Duke remarked that the mission of the Saint sounded a great deal like what the Joes and Cobra were entangled in years ago, but the Saint courteously explained that things had changed.
As the Joes and Cobra ally-agents returned to their retirement castle in Switzerland, Snake-Eyes wondered what the legacy of modern globalization-turbulence related warfare/terrorism since the days of WWII would be and what exactly his son Ephram (aka, the 'Saint') would inherit! Snake-Eyes brooded with his new wife Pythona that perhaps the Joe-Cobra war did not amount to much, since now there was a new 'veil' of darkness which had to be confronted by the Saint. Pythona gently reminded Snake-Eyes that the Joe-Cobra war effectively ceased all intentions to use chemical weapons in 'smart-warfare.' Snake-Eyes realized, however, that this new mission of the Saint revealed that the modern landscape was still contending with the forces of terrorism, nationalism controversies, commerce-related dissatisfaction, etc. Snake-Eyes wondered if the Saint would be considered as a 'mercenary-soldier.' Nevertheless, Snake-Eyes was confident that President Trump's successor would provide his son, the Saint, with the necessary 'metaphysical wisdom' (regarding modern cyber-fascism).
