It's easy to blame Bush, but he is only a small part of the problem. His tax cuts were responsible for much of our current crisis as they helped create the housing bubble. Here is what is so ironic about Bush's tax cuts; they were only intended to be kept in place so long as the federal government was continuing to show a surplus or at least keep the budget close to being balanced. But when it all blew up and the deficits began to soar, all of a sudden the right wing conservatives started doubling down on the tax cuts telling us we couldn't raise taxes because it would do more harm to the economy. Well we see how that all worked out. It turned into a major clusterfuck, but it wasn't just Bush, it was anyone who promoted doubling down on those tax cuts.

The killer of all this is that now Republicans are telling us in order to get the economy moving again we have to "cut taxes even more". Yea, that's a brilliant idea.
