The United States could more successfully steer Iran’s behavior in a cooperative direction if both countries agreed to move their battleground away from the flow of Iran’s oil to the global markets. There is a way to do this.

Norway’s successful experience in translating its natural oil wealth into high standards of living for its people by means of a sovereign wealth fund, which shields politics against the corrupting effects of state control over concentrated oil income and protects the economy against the “Dutch disease”—the appreciation of the national currency to the detriment of domestic production of tradable goods in nonenergy sectors—is viewed with envy by Iranians across the political spectrum.

Oman has had friendly relations with Iran, both before and after the Islamic revolution, and has mediated on multiple occasions between Iran and the United States.

This is an interesting argument.

It's looking more and more like that bus has already gone by us. From https://www.americanthinker.com/articles/2018/10/irans_economy_is_on_the_verge_of_collapse.html :

Iran is a global sponsor of terrorism. That must end for us to come to terms with them. Advanced IED's from Iran have killed many Americans fighting over there...............Their actions in the region have sparked Wars in Yemen and now they press Israel in the never ending war in Syria..........this being done after ISIS is nearly defeated...........in the IDIB region I think........the last enclaves exist but it approaches the borders of Israel and Turkey makes it another disaster looming.............

Iran has begun killing the Kurds again..........In Northern Iran, Iraq and in Syria.........

Iran still wants the Nukes which is sparking a potential nuclear arms race there with other Arab countries.

And Iran is virtually bankrupt...........the economy is crumbling..........and closing in on civil War from a younger Generation that no longer wants the Mullahs to be in power............

Another nightmare is coming.

Which is fueling a potential civil war.

Iran is desperate..........their goal of domination in the region is imploding...............and it will not be pretty in the end........

How Many US Troops Were Killed By Iranian IEDs in Iraq?
That’s about half as many deaths as lawmakers have attributed to the bombs, which U.S. officials say were largely supplied by Iran’s elite Quds Force.

The carnage wrought by EFPs returned to the news over the summer, as opponents of the nuclear deal with Iran cited Tehran’s behind-the-scenes actions against U.S. troops during Operation Iraqi Freedom as a reason to scuttle the agreement. Sen. Ted Cruz, a Texas Republican who is also running for president, and others in Congress have said that EFPs had killed more than 500 troops.

“I understand that the Joint Personnel Recovery Agency has a classified list of roughly 500 American soldiers who were murdered by Iranian IEDs,” Cruz said at a July 29 Senate Armed Services Committee hearing.

But data from U.S. Central Command, which runs U.S. military operations in the Middle East, suggests the actual toll is far less. According to the first comprehensive accounting, between November 2005 and December 2011, 1,526 EFPs killed a total of 196 U.S. troops and injured 861.\
