The republicans blew their biggest chance.

15 trillion in debt and deficit spending as far as the eye can see. No budget in 3 years and all bills pilling up in the senate waste basket.

Your so called saviors are digging us deeper in the hole that their predecessors.

Bullshit. We had to get the nation going again, just as FDR had to do in the first Great Republican Depression. As for the budget, the GOP has decided that stopping everything in the government is the way to impress the people of this nation. Their obstructionist policy is the problem, not the current administration.

They had control of everything for about what 6 years there during the Bush admin.
And what did they accomplish?
2 wars,
nearly doubled debt,
$4 gas
And a Recession

Why should anyone believe the promises they are still making that they made before the 2000 election?
What a waste of an opportunity to change things to suit them.

How long since the last time they had controlled congress and the presidency?

No need to live in the past ...

those who do not learn from history...

I do not like Obama either but in all fairness he inherited the worst recession in decades.
vs bush inheriting a nearly balanced budget.

By "nearly balanced", you mean, Stealing from the Pension fund to fund operations... Which is what clinton was doing.

The thing was, the things that are killing our economy now were all baked into the pie under Clinton.

Clinton was the one that signed all the awful trade agreements - NAFTA, GATT, WTO, MFN with China - that allowed the big corporations to strip this country of its manufacturing.

Clinton was the one who popped the Stock market boom with his foolish lawsuit against MicroSoft.

Now, I give Obama a Mulligan in that he got a bad deal when he got in. But look where he put his priorities. Imposing a health plan no one really wanted instead of fixing the economy first. a Trillion dollar stimulus which just ended up being a gimme for his union buddies. He had a fine oppurtunity to show us the Democratic way worked, and he blew it fairly quickly.

The Republicans have had control of Congress and the Presidency just two times in American history.

Once before the GREAT DEPRESSION and again before the CURRENT RECESSION.

both times caused these messes.

They crashed the world economy twice in one lifetime.

How can any onevote for a record like that?

.

Both ridiculous parties are afflicted with the same narcissistic tendencies. Here's how the pathology manifests:

1. Get voted into the office, usually because the other side screws up so badly.

2. Immediately assume that your victory is a clear indication that the entire public wants you to shove 100% of your agenda down their throats

3. Proceed to shove 100% of your agenda down everyone's throat, claiming a "mandate"

4. Piss large numbers of voters off because you over-reached

5. Get voted out of office for over-reaching

6. Observe the other side practice steps 1 through 5

7. See step 1

Over and over. This country is on the precipice, but the above rules will still not change.

Your number 1, yes getting voted in is a priority.

Republicans seem to not understand that the path to the WH is not through extremist ideology. Not that I mind them being so stupid.

And which party pretty much controlled congress during the clowntoon years?

Yeah see what that false expansion got us?

You left out declining real wages for workers.
And yes high energy costs will look like economic growth when in fact it is a recession driver.

Nobody said the world is perfect, just not a fucked up as so many on the left want it to be.

And to think, I wasted four years getting a minor in political science.... When you summed it up in seven sentences....

Are you just going to be oblivious to the two points I mentioned- Trade and Federal Regulation- were exclusively Executive functions?

Okay, man, if you want to do that.

I'm at least honest enough to admit BOTH parties are to blame for the mess. You dont' seem to want to hold Clinton or Obama accountable for anything.

Your number 1, yes getting voted in is a priority.

Republicans seem to not understand that the path to the WH is not through extremist ideology. Not that I mind them being so stupid.

How come when Democrats run on "extremist idealogy", you are fine with that, but when Republicans do it, it's the worst thing in the world?

You know what, the thing is, we've tried it your way. We nominated McCain in 2008, who was the nice kind of "sensible" moderate you guys always pine for. And he got less votes than Bush did in 2004.

And we'll nominate Romney (well, the rest of them will, I'm looking at third parties right now), who you guys praise as a nice moderate, until he secures the nomination, and then he'll become the Mormon Anti-Christ.

Maybe, and I'm just spitballing here, Republicans should stop taking advice from people who don't want to see them win.

.

I'm not so sure either side wants to brag about "economic expansion" over the last, say, 30 years.

We now know that much of this "expansion" was based on borrowed money, both at the federal and household level. It isn't real. It's borrowed.

Not much to brag about, there.

Don't we know this?
