Of course the Republican Party is dead. When was the last time that there were more registered Republicans than Democrats? I can't seem to remember, but I believe it's been a while. This idea that the Republican Party is dead is about as laughable as those who said the Democratic Party was dead after the Republicans gained control of Congress.
And for those of you who think we will see a new third party emerge from all of this, think again. We do not have a parliamentary form of government where coalitions can be built between parties. Splitting the Republican Party would leave the Democratic Party in control permanently, and that is exactly why it won't happen.
I predict that a movement for fiscal conservatism will take hold very soon, but probably not before 2012, and maybe not until 2016, but it is coming. Once the kids of the baby boomers start understanding what our fuckups are going to cost them in the long term, they will move very quickly from the ideological left to the fiscally conservative right.
And then in 2 years we will realize the GOP is not the answer. They love to spend too, just on different things.
They don't like welfare, they like corporate welfare. And you guys defend it. Remember trickle down?
PS. Obama lowered your taxes, Bush didn't.
my check reflected a tax break when GWB did it.....so i dont know what you are mumbling about.....
