The Republican Party and their continuing war on the American Middle Class

In April, two miners were killed at the Dotiki Mine in Western Kentucky after the mine’s roof collapsed. The non-union mine had been cited for 840 safety violations by federal inspectors since 2009, and the Kentucky Office of Mine Safety and Licensing issued 31 orders to close sections of the mine or to shut down equipment during the same period. But when asked about the incident, Kentucky’s Republican Senate candidate, Rand Paul, said “maybe sometimes accidents happen.”

Kentucky coal miners are criticizing Republican Senate candidate Rand Paul for suggesting that Congress shouldn’t be making mine safety rules.

Rand Paul: Mine safety regulations aren’t needed since “no one will apply” for jobs at dangerous mines Climate Progress

Tony Oppegard, a Kentucky-based attorney specializing in mine safety, told the Lexington-Herald Leader that Paul's comments were "idiotic."

If the government didn't regulate worker safety in the nation's mines, Oppegard said, "there would be a bloodbath."

Rand Paul campaign slams reports on mine-safety comments ? but sticks with position - The Hill's Healthwatch

Sharon Engle: “People ask me, what are you going to do to develop jobs in your State”? Angles reply to her question, “well that’s not my job as a US Senator”.

Kilmeade: "Maybe the unemployment benefits [expiring] will get people to sober up" and take a job.

Part of the Health Care Bill:

Would expand coverage to 32 million Americans who are currently uninsured. (reducing the cost to emergency rooms)

Six months after enactment, insurance companies could no longer denying children coverage based on a preexisting condition.

Starting in 2014, insurance companies cannot deny coverage to anyone with preexisting conditions. (if your son has an allergy or your wife had a mamogram, within six months, they have been listed as "pre existing conditions")

Insurance companies must allow children to stay on their parent's insurance plans until age 26th.

Illegal immigrants will not be allowed to buy health insurance in the exchanges -- even if they pay completely with their own money.

Small Business Tax Credits

New Insurance Plans Must Include Preventative Care

Insurance companies can no longer cut someone when he or she gets sick.

Insurers must now reveal how much money is spent on overhead.(Cigna CEO 73 million dollar bonus - one among many)

Medicare Expansion To Rural Areas

I keep seeing the left helping Americans.

I hear nothing about the right helping the Middle Class. It's been suggested the right is at war with the middle class. What do they hope to win?

Hey, I got an idea, lets just ban pain, suffering and inconvenience. Then it'll never happen.

Your problem, like all the left, is you think government can prevent and fix all problems.

Fact is, life sucks sometimes. Accidents do happen. We all greive. And government can't change that.

Oh, and being 26..........TWENTY SIX........no longer classifies you as a child. If you are still on your mommy's health insurance as a "child" at god-damn age 26 without your own job, then you are a pathetic loser.

When allowing children to remain on a parents health insurance, liberals must be reminded that a "child" should be classified by how old they are, not how old they act. By liberal standards, most left wingers would still be "children" at age 35.

LOL, what a bunch of Socialist crap. CHANGE OUR WHOLE SYSTEM for 32 million people. and remember folks, illegal immigrants WONT BE COVERED, ya know why, they ALREADY ARE.

and since when did a person age 26 still be considered a friggen CHILD.

and the best part folks is THE Guberment get to grow and grow to oversee all this, AND YOU WORKING STIFFS OUT THERE GET TO PAY FOR IT.

how bout that.

After observation and measurement, we can state with 99.99999% degree of confidence that all of Rdean's thread are a waste of electrons.

We initially thought originally that only 94% of his threads were a waste but we were unable to find any that fell in the 6% non-waste category.

Oh, and what should Rand Paul have said? Obviously, the existing gov't regulations cited the mine what, you said 840 times? Yet the miners kept coming to work.

So are you saying only a union is the solution? Well, look what unions have done to Illinois, NY, NJ, CA.....bankrupt.

How about a simple law stating any citation the gov't gives a company must be made visible on employee pay stubs for 6 months. That way, the employee can decide for himself if he wants to keep working there.

Oops, that makes too much sense for a liberal. No, we should instead tax the rich some more and fund yet another government oversight department to issue even more citations. Yeah, that'll fix it.

Oh, and just for you to be consistent, have you heard all the dangers police officers are facing in Arizona? Shootouts with illegal drug smugglers? Cartels deploying former Mexican army snipes to secure smuggling routes to prevent AZ cops from stopping them? Those are very dangerous work conditions. Don't you think the government should do something about that? Oh, they tried, and Obama sued them. Shouldn't the feds do something? C'mon now, a miners life is no more precious than a cops. If a dangerous work environment that the gov't could prevent is bad for miners, it should also be bad for cops. Be consistent now before you respond.

I have peer-reviewed this post, and I concur. The science is settled.

Forgive me on this one, but have not then Democrats been in charge of congress for a while now? so should not the thread title include both parties if that were the case ? The fact remains that if we as a nation keep electing people to represent us Democrat or Republican under the guise of "Change" when they are the same people who were responsbile for the situation in the first place we have little to complain about. I could say for example, that under the current Democrat watch not one month has passed in which we have not lost jobs in this nation or increased the debt this nation owes, or a whole host of other issues, however I am of the opinion that rather than actually blaming one single party for the actions of both the best thing to do is vote for someone that does represent change and not more of the same.

No, no, no. Republicans are responsible for all the bad things. Democrats are responsible for all the good things. No, really! That's what Democrats keep telling me, anyways.

Actually, when it comes to Republicans, there are no good things.

Your sheer inability to think is no one's problem but your own.

People need to contact their congresscritters and tell them you demand they get behind REPEALING THIS CRAP BILL passed by the Commie Obama administration and his comrades in arms Democrats in Congress.

Actually, I think it is Democrats who have a problem understanding that, why else would they want government to pay for everyone's education?
