Try me Jarhead. I was raised by a Christian theologian and she had her own Christian book store.I have studied it along with all religions. Don't blow me off cause your chicken.
Then why would you ask if there were Christians before Christ came. Jesus was a Jew.
The true Christian religion is peaceful since Jesus came, The statement you rendered suggest that since Jesus came, Christianity was not peaceful.
Dear MG: RE if Christianity is peaceful or not
Yes and no, there is both division and there is reconciliation going on in Jesus name!
Jesus is the spirit of divine justice, a double edged sword where you get the justice you give.
So if you live by the OT ways of judging and punishing by the letter of the law
"retributive justice" that is what you invoke on others and what you get on your head!
Or if you live by the NT ways of forgiving and correcting by the spirit of the law,
"restorative justice" then you also get the same chance for forgiveness and correction.
So it goes both ways.
You can live by the spirit of the laws, in truth and love and charity
(in Buddhism it is called Wisdom and Compassion for all)
or you can die by the sword, by hanging and killing each other by the letter of the law.
We have seen both in the history of humanity and in Christianity.
The way of peace is to live by forgiveness which restores justice and loving relations.
That is what Jesus ultimately represents, but because of the learning curve of
humanity, we see people learning by invoking judgment on others which boomerangs
back on them. His sacrifice was designed to BREAK this cycle of retribution, and one day we will reach that point. Not everyone comes to that point at the same time or same way.
But when we get there, we can look back and understand the whole process in retrospect.
The truth shall set us free.
