It's a drop dead certainty that this is not our fathers' Republican party, folks.

Modern Republian social conservatism is the antithesis of what classic Republicans of the 1950 believed.

They probably would have practiced social conservatism in their own lives, but strenuously objected to allowing the government to shove that down everyone's else throats.

They'd have no more gotten in bed with the charltans of the fundamentlaist Christian movement, than they'd have cozied up to Joe Stalin.
