also in the senate, the minority has veto power unless the majority is over 60. also republicans lost the house vote by over a million votes, so the house is actually speaking for the minority, you can't spin it frankie, you cant as much as I know you want too.

Actually Obama did push for extending the Social Security payroll tax cut as early as last Feb, but neither party had any interest in pursuing it so it was generally agreed to let it expire. The 2% increase should put the trust fund in pretty good shape at least for few more years, however by 2020 payouts will once again exceed tax contributions and the fund will again begin to shrink.

Yea, like Michele Bachmann's new bill to repeal Obamacare. I think that makes 33 times House Republicans have done this. As long as House Republicans are more interested in making political statements than legislating, no progress will be made in solving the government's deficit problems.
