I was in my 20s in the '60s and clearly remember all of this.


It was indeed the passing of one America and the birth of another.


I don't know that it was all that good of a change.
 
I thought it was a car commercial jingle -- for 2 years. I was never a big fan of the song
 
The only thing that ever bothered me about it is how damned long it is! Same holds true with that song a Miss America woman sings that goes on forever and ever.


DJs play them so they can run to the can or grab a smoke.

Had they played Inca Roads just 5% of the time they played "American Pi" well, I'm not sure what would have happened but it would have been awesome

 
Shit man, we had to do a complete interpretation break down of the song in music class..The teacher was wac about it...
 
It's weird how many great groups or singers have died in plane crashes
