The deal is, you sit and type up a wall of text post with fact after fact and each point backed up with intelligent quotes from Aristotle to Zoaster and it gets ignored and it just falls into the pit of neglected threads. You post a stupid that has been posted a thousand times before, and people jump all over it.


I sort of think that this is what the membership wants and so they should have it

The liberals here can't deal with long posts backed up with facts. They rather like the opportunity to post witty little one-liners that make their adolescnet friends think a point has been made.

I am a member of a formal debate forum where when two debaters agree to a topic and a judge, they start a debate and are the only posters allowed in it. Interesting discussions generally follow and the onlookers are allowed to comment on the debate in separate threads. However, THAT is not near as interesting as USMB.

THIS is a MESSAGE BOARD not a formal debate parlor. I suspect the only way you'll be able to carry on serious and lengthy discussion with intelligent posters will be to follow these easy to read instructions:

A) Find an intelligent poster.
B) Send a PM suggesting that the two of you discuss a topic using nothing but PMs.

Used to be really fun to debate on here. Is this a normal decline around election time? There are so many Jerry Springer style topics now that earnest debate is rare unless a thread is derailed.

I have posted in multiple threads asking those on the Right to explain their ideas and positions so we could discuss them, and seldom do they ever. You're guilty of that in fact.

I think if you want to have a better level of debate, then start by personally offering a better level of debate.
