The Peoples Republic of Liberal America, continue to misinform the low information voters into thinking Socialism is the end all and everyone just loves the lifestyle. What they don't tell you is behind every bullshit doctored up photo is a government agent that will kill you if you open your mouth and say something bad about the rocket man. Also what isn't being told is that a few select liberal elites get to have all the good stuff, while the rest of the liberal morons who stay there, are starving, as typical of the liberal mantra of "Do as I say, not as I do".
A tour guide is showing some "visitor" what the city is like, but they cant pan around and show the armed guards there to make sure the "Spies" don't get out of line. Yep, if you know what is really going on in N. Korea, then all these puff pieces are exposed for the lies that Marxism must FORCE, to try to sway people into stupidity...

That may as well be the OP-er on the steed in the image below.

The statements "the surprisingly normal lives of North Koreans" and "North Korea is a normal country" do not mean the same things. The former statement is the photo montage's title that MSN's editors posted. The latter statement is what the OP-er infers is being asserted. MSN does not assert that the people are normal, or that the DPRK is a normal country. Is the OP-er a dissembling propagandist or simply a poor reader or both? I don't know.

The title and photo montage (there is no narrative article) the OP-er linked does not make any claims (tacit or explicit) about the country. The photos illustratively show that North Korean people engage in the same types of activities that people in other countries do and that to the extent they do, they live "normal" lives, as compared with those of non North Koreans. Indeed, the only activity depicted that is inconsistent with "normal" life as I've lived it is this:

School children work to fix potholes on a rural road in North Hamgyong province.

I'm not aware of any kids so young who, in Western societies, who are formed into and work as road-repair crew. Perhaps, however, where, in Western nations, the roads are dirt rather than macadam, children, under the supervision of an adult, fix potholes in them.

The word socialism (or forms of it) do not even appear in the photo captions. There is no basis for thinking the photos are in any way a qualitatively judgmental visual commentary on socialism. The montage is nothing more than a set of discrete observations/depictions of people in the DPRK going about the mundanities of day-to-day living.

Of course you wont say how bad it is for those less fortunate, not to be in the inner circles of the Commies. But hey at least they weren't aborted by planned parenthood, but just live like a typical kid under government rule...

Non sequitur

I hear for the first time that in North Korea - socialism. Socialism is when the state provides most of the social benefits in the transition period, when building Communism. There is nothing of the kind in North Korea, since they originally took the idea of Juche - self-sufficiency and detachment from another world. And they get it badly.
