The progressive war on Christmas/Christianity

Nazis hated Christianity too.

Go figure. Another similarity.

Not surprising, since Nazis were progressives.

The Straight Dope: Was Hitler a Christian?

In a speech at Koblenz, August 26, 1934, Hitler said: "National Socialism neither opposes the Church nor is it anti-religious, but on the contrary it stands on the ground of a real Christianity . . . For their interests cannot fail to coincide with ours alike in our fight against the symptoms of degeneracy in the world of today, in our fight against a Bolshevist culture, against atheistic movement, against criminality, and in our struggle for a consciousness of a community in our national life . . . These are not anti-Christian, these are Christian principles!"

When all is said and done, Krueger says that anecdotal evidence from those close to him near the end of his life suggests that he was a at least a deist, if not a theist. Krueger concludes: "So here's what evidence we have. There is a certain worldview, Nazism. Its leader, Hitler, professes on many occasions to be religious, and he often states that he's doing the will of god. The majority of his followers are openly religious. There is no evidence anywhere that this leader ever professed to anyone that he is an atheist. He and his followers actively campaign against atheism, even to the point of physical force, and this leader allies himself with religious organizations and churches. This is the evidence. So where does atheism fit in?" As Krueger notes, there seems to be no real evidence that Hitler was an atheist. On the other hand, since one could never be sure when he was speaking his real thoughts and when he was simply riling up the masses, it's difficult to say for certain.

No, the Nazis were hardly Progressives. In fact, they wrapped themselves in a religious mantle, along with the flag. Now who today wraps themselves in that religioius mantle and the flag?

They were into neo-paganism, and hated the church.

So stop lying. You guys are the exact same people who ushered in and legalized nazi atrocities in the name of science, for all the same reasons you retards chip away at individual freedoms, while worshiping pseudo science that says that abortion and euthanasia will result in a kinder, gentler world.

Sick fucks.
So that's why the catholic church helped Nazis escape Europe after WWII?

Uh, no. Hitler executed priests for speaking against him, and sacked churches.

There were plenty of individual priests who help save lives, but the Catholic Church a whole not so much when it came to Jews.

Christmas has absolutely nothing to do with Christ, the cross or religion. Absoultely nothing. Santa Claus, a cut tree decorated, raindeer, snow, present, etc. LIke bunny rabbits, colored eggs have to do with...What? Worship in truth and spirit. John 4;24.
Both is a tradition and doctrine and has not place in worshiping our GOD and Christ. Mark 7;13. You people who profess to be Christian don't know the first about what is envolved. Christ was not crucified on a cross. Physically imposible and not scriptural. I am offended by the sight of a cross because the orgin of the cross is pagan worship and never in early worship by christians. Talk about being destoryed by lack of knowledge, The professed Christian.

Is it that time of year again already?

Kansassss. Where the KKK openly runs for office and wins.

Hard to believe there are intelligent, educated progressives there.

So everybody is not like Beck and puts his cross in a jar of piss, And then tries to sell it?

To Little Baby Huey, that's liquid gold.

Hell, the gold content is about the same as the stuff he hawks to the nutters.

Except for the little boys ....

The sight of a cross used in worship and religion is offensive to me and I am a christian and do not belong to any organized religious institution.

Actually, the reason that many Christians use the cross as their symbol is because Jesus WAS crucified on a cross.

Seems that was the main form of execution for high profile people by the Roman Empire at the time.

It's really a mistake to say there is a specific war on Christmas. The complaints against Christmas are quickly replaced by the complaints against Valentine's Day,Easter, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Memorial Day, Veteran's Day, the Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving. The war isn't against Christmas specifically, it's against all holidays. Holidays are special days, and that means they are not the equal of other days. It's all about the equality.

Fucking moron.

" Thousands of Christian clergy were killed by the Nazis, including some who had a Jewish background, as in the case of Edith Stein. In some countries Roman Catholic bishops and even Catholics themselves had openly protested and attacked Nazi policies. For instance, in the Netherlands and Poland, where bishops and priests had protested the deportation of Jews, the clergy was either threatened with deportation themselves and kept in custody (as in the case of German bishop Clemens von Galen), or directly deported to concentration camps (as in the cases of the Dutch Carmelite priest Titus Brandsma and Polish Fr. Maximilian Kolbe, who was later canonized). The Catholic Church was particularly suppressed in Poland: between 1939 and 1945, an estimated 3,000 members (18%) of the Polish clergy, were murdered; of these, 1,992 died in concentration camps.[27] In the annexed territory of Reichsgau Wartheland it was even more harsh: churches were systematically closed and most priests were either killed, imprisoned, or deported to the General Government. Eighty per cent of the Catholic clergy and five bishops of Warthegau were sent to concentration camps in 1939; 108 of them are regarded as blessed martyrs.[27] Religious persecution was not confined to Poland: in Dachau concentration camp alone, 2,600 Catholic priests from 24 different countries were killed.[27]"
